I discovered a pretty cool lot at Sam's warehouse in Addison. I rode there a couple of years. Kinda grippy, but no traffic. It's the lot on the west side of Sam's. It's pretty wide open with a very slight slope.
Here's a pic.

Dang, you're no where near your seat. Low seat = trendy? It's ok, it happened in flatland in the 90's.

Congrats on the pic in the paper. Very cool.
On the other subject on tennis courts. I think it was Pat who came up with a good idea. When you go ride at the courts, bring two rackets and a ball and when tennis players come to play, get off your bikes and start playing tennis. That should deter them from F'n with you. When they leave in disgust, drop the rackets and proceed to session. Very cool idea.

Actually, your bike set up is good for a beginner. That's how I started out. I rode a Huffy with 4 pegs and front and back brakes. I didn't even have a detangler. I learned a bunch of stuff on that bike. If possible, find someone to ride with who knows basic tricks and have them show you. You will learn basic tricks and then some even faster. Also, get some videos. That Matt Willhelm instructional vid is very good! Even if you just got that, you can learn alot off of it. Anyway, hope that helps some.

Man, I have a few of those mags from the 80's. I know that I still have the 50th issue w/ RL doing a smith decade on the cover. It's in very good shape. I need to dig those out and remember the old days.

Ok, sorry for the confusion of the trick name. I know which is a Smith and what is a Perverted. I must of had one too many that night. Well, here's a rolling Perverted, or Perverted Rollade from Mr. Bo Wade.

I've always known of a Perverted Decade as a decade from the pegs instead of the seatpost.
Re: I help flatland, unlike all these threads. posted on 2006-05-23 01:03:44
I met a guy named Jason who just graduated from my old highschool and was into riding flat. He was just starting out and was riding some POS bmx bike. I don't remember the name of it, but he had some good parts on it. I just decided that if he wanted to progress he would need a better frame that he was riding. So I gave him my 2000 Hoffman EP frame with 3 pairs of GT alum pegs. Along with a GT seatpost clamp and Primo Rod seatpost and a Primo Hemmoroid seat. After that, from what I heard, he was progressing even more. He had trouble with hang-5's before, now he is doing them down the street. I'm glad I could help.

I Guess thats his favorite trick? a decade if im not mistaken.

That must be someone else's bike. It looks like a recent pic from the braces on his arms. Just like when Bo gets on my bike and does double perverted decades on my bike since I have brakes. Bo is the man too.

Re: Why doesn't anyone know what flatland is? posted on 2006-05-20 00:28:02
That's probably why I like the sport. Not mainstream, and if you go out to a park or some parking lot and start riding, people go "huh?" and stop and watch. Because it's something you don't see everyday. All you see is a kids bouncing a basketball or throwing a baseball or something. I'm not dissing those sports, I just dig a sport that no-one knows about and that I can do it. I still remeber to this day back in 1987 while I was doing a bar-ride.. there were people freakin the hell out!! So I'm glad it's still kinda l underground. That makes it more interesting.
