Re: Just arrived in the mail... posted on 2006-08-04 16:45:42

Suntours are the deal!!!  Ive got a couple built up and some just hangin out.
I have ran a Nankai, and I will have to  say I went back to a suntour. I have zero probs with them.
Im guessing they about the same weight. If your running 14 gauge spokes, you have to use tiny washers on the spokeheads where they meet the flange tho.

By the way, how much did you pay for the one on ebay? I got a couple for about $35 each.
They are super hard to find tho, although back in the day, Suntour coaster hubs were on about 60% of all coaster equipped bikes. I read that they made hundreds of thousands of these in the 80's. Kinda strange that they are so rare.

Its pretty cool, you can save stations, preferences, and fast forward past what you don't like.

Sweet riding there! Some nice oldschool links in there. I especially liked the guy on the silver bike just stalling the halflash ride in like a hang 5. I love that kinda stuff. Nice to see some rolling rebates in there too.

Ive used a bunch for a few years now, I find BitComet to be the best as far as ease of use, But I seem to remember getting better download speeds with Azereus.

Re: Todays Riding posted on 2006-07-30 20:50:23

Rode yesterday for about an hour. I crashed and burned again aborting a steam to funky and landed on my hands. Tho this is not a hard trick for me, I think im putting more Vigor into my tricks with less concern about crashing, which is helping me push forward some.

Finally got the backend of the bike to "lock in" for mccircles, I was kicking wide carves almost as long as I wanted to. Hopefully I can tighten them up soon. This also translated hugely to doing backwheel megaspin type tricks I been trying. I think I was just trying to go too fast in both these tricks before.

It was kind of a leisurely ride, so I messed around with backward steams to see how many circles I can get. I was doing these counter clock circles, And it wanted to turbine so easily, too bad I dont turbine that way or do steams opposite foot.  It really sucks, cuz i wish it felt this easy to turbine the regular way.

Definately got regular hand steams on lock. Starting to be able to pump them consistently and controll the steering alot, to the point im gonna start working on them 1 handed.

Like Mark was sayin, I also wanna start learning pinky squeaks or hydrant squeaks, but I cant seem to keep the backend up by the time my foot goes to step over the frame. I was trying these hydrant> sit on the seat sqeakers, its just the backend.........................

My boss just sent me this link. It about how to anodize your parts at home. Looks a little complicated, mostly obtaining chemicals and hardware but this looks really cool.

Clerks 2 posted on 2006-07-29 09:54:04

I saw clerks 2 the other day. I reallly had my doubts going in, but I loved it. For a sequel, it was way better than expected. A bit formulated from the sucess of Clerks, but Its a sequel 12 years later, meant to draw a whole new audience is my guess. So I cant really blame the movie for that.
All in all, Im really glad this movie came out.

Re: wtf happened to myspace? posted on 2006-07-28 18:52:22

I use myspace to keep up with local freinds here in my city. I do however agree with Tranquilized, I know people that I work with that are seriously addicted to it.
To be honest I think myspace is almost the cyber version of the Jerry Springer show in a way. Just lots of people showing their ass in diffrent medium. Its kind of ironic that we as Bmxers and flatlanders were kinda tagged the pioneeers of extreme culture back in the underground days.
Now living the extreme life has permeated into the mainstream and it doesn't end with sports.
You see it on myspace, everyones a true G playa for real or a super slut nympho with a gangsta boo song on their page. Not that im knockin hip hop or anything, It just seems that people seem to so desperately belong to some homogeneos extreme aspect of culture these days, as if being themselves is so terrible.

Re: How much coffee do you drink in a day? posted on 2006-07-27 21:11:03

I used to drink about 2 (32oz) cups of Iced coffee a day for years. I started to feel energy crashes all the time. I quit cold turkey, been about 2 months without any at all. Switched to Iced green tea, I know its not as much caffiene, but I dont get the sugar/caffiene crashes anymore.

Re: Todays Riding posted on 2006-07-26 22:04:24

Last night kinda working on smoothing out some things. Started getting really smooth at dork forward to turbine to coasting backward dork in a straight line for distance. (turnbucket in the future?) hrm.......  been pretty sore this week doing all these new things, guess im using new muscles which means im going a bit further than I have been before.

Tonight, was kinda burnt out cuz of the heat. Worked on forward to backward dorks, missed the kick, and totally looped out hard. For a sec, I was puzzled why I could only see the sky before I slammed hard onto my back. Got back up and continued to ride, nothing eventfull to report for the rest of the session. 30 min later, packed it in and went home.

Re: Todays Riding posted on 2006-07-24 21:43:22

Yesterday pulled a hydrant to turbine steam, got the steam for a little bit, but the back tire dropped for a split second and I immediately Pulled it back up to a steam and ended up cycloning out.  Also practicing McCircles again, Getting really good carves going, but cant seem to tighten it up and kick. On a side note: I tried stepping into McCircles and got a few kicks. Its the critical moment when you go from whip to kicking that eludes me.  Similarly, getting some good kicks in on a funky to spastic frontyard, but the circles are still just too big for now.

Tonight, ended my session early cuz its too damn hot, slippin and sliding. Went to go see Clerks 2.
WAY better sequel than expected.  Go see it.

Re: Todays Riding posted on 2006-07-20 18:40:57

Lately I been tweaking a few things on my bike. Lowered my seatpost a tad from bar height,Shoved the seat forward almost to the end of the rails and put another half link in my chain to lengthen the back end. Its really weird how this can change the feel of your bike. It made my front end seem smaller and the backend feel longer, It kinda made it more balanced, which brings me to tonights ride.

Steams to funkys, backwheel turbines, the usual. I normally rest my leg on the side of my seat before going into a trick. I guess my seat forward made me stand way farther over the bars.
So I decided to re visit whiplashes. Kick it around, gets about 270, and Im really balancing this well.
Next thing I know it starts coming back the other way, then I nudge the bars and it goes back to 270. IM like doing multiple rolling rebates down the lot like 3-4 back and forths before I run out of lot.  Im like, "where the hell did this come from?" So I try it again, same thing happens......multiple rolling rebates............Im really losing my shit at this point cuz im so incredulous. I used to attempt these last year and could barely get 1. And tonight I just corrected a whiplash gone awry and got multiples. How crazy is that?  Anyway sorry to rant.

Im glad Ive ridden everyday this week even in the sweltering humidity. It seems like after being back into riding for a year, little stuff Is just starting to click and come back little by little.

That's a terrible price. 45 bucks shipped for a beat up stem?

Actually the camera flash makes it look like theres a gouge on the face plate. Besides the internal clamping areas, It looks practically brand new in person. Besides, it could win it for less money in the auction................
