Today, pretty much practiced my normal stuff. Tight circle steam rollers to step over funky chicken (almost brakeless now). Been messing around with this trick that happens doing lashes. whip the back to about 270 then it swings back the other way like a hydrant then I kinda start pumping forward like a forward pumping mccircle. I think ive seen Jumelin do something like this. Getting a few good pumps before it straightens out. Stepping into regular mccircles, getting about 3 good kicks sometimes before it loops forward and i touch. I really feel close to feeling what needs to happen, as I hear the tire making a digging sound into the pavement.
I tend to spend way too much time focusing on whipping into steams during my sessions. I dunno why, I pull them almost everytime, but I still have this hang up about em. Like its too much stuff happening too fast and I always sweat the ride in like its my first time everytime. Its just hard to relax. Does this happen with anyone else? maybe even on a diffrent trick?

Whoa!! everyone, good work. I do some illustrator stuff, It never crossed my mind to make it into stencils and spray, tho Ive seen some stuff around here.
Heres like my first vector trace ever I did from a pic.50 or so layers, Its kinda composed as a portrait, but heck Id love to strip some stuff out of it and spray it.

What you say matters. What you say becomes matter. You call your existence into being. I am a spoken word poet. Most people don't understand the power of words.
Biggie named his first album Ready to Die and you see what happened.
I have written fictional (well semi-fictional pieces), that I have later had come into my life. I have a piece about a retired stripper who is a soccer mom now. It was a composite of a few people when I wrote it, but I have met chicks who you could be convinced it was written for them. I have one abstract piece where I am hanging out with the color blue talking about ex's with each ex being represented by a color of the spectrum. I wrote that five years ago. About six months ago I met and started hanging out with a neighbor. All he wore was blue, he was BLUE tatted on his arm in blue and people called him "Blue".
In Waking Life, Richard Linklater goes into a story about an essay by Phillip K Dick about meeting people that were very much like those in Flow My Tears the Policeman Said years after writing the novel.
I have a friend of a friend who complains about everything. He also complains about how much his life sucks. Well, of course it is going to suck if you complain all the time. There is a correlation.
What is the connection to prayer? What you say matters. What you say becomes matter. I performed my poetry hundreds of times over the years at open mics, shows, features and festivals and things I have written about have come into fruition. I think whether you call it prayer, chanting, spells or whatever, you are calling your existence into being.

That reminds me of this thing about me. I have been noticing it for years. I seem to have this ability to think about someone I have not seen in a long time/years. I start talking about this person, and Bam, In a week or less, They will be in town or call me up or something in a week or less. It only seems to work if I talk about the person. This has happened more times than I can remeber it not happening.

Re: History of peg size posted on 2006-08-09 18:03:17
I cant really recall the date, But I seem to remember riding some deep socket pegs, Pre-87 called
"Fiore" pegs. They used an 8mm allen key to install the nuts that came with them. I remember them seeming kind of generic. Im pretty sure they were knurled aluminum or steel, dont remember.
Anyone else remember these?
Re: Speed scuffing and messed up funky chickens posted on 2006-08-09 17:54:33
Like Mr.Jowee said, once you get better, you will spend less time between scuffs. Mostly only dragging your foot to regain balance forward or backward.
As far as rideouts go, theres alot of possibilities, 2 easy ones that come to mind are:
1. pulling your leg back behind the bar and smoothie out.
2. same as above, except linking into a steam roller.

Gonna wear out my elm streets first, but I got a set of 1.85 Gs in the waiting.
I like the elms pretty good, but haven't really tried many other tires out.

Not to Rag too hard, but Bianchi's quality has gone south from what they once were. I absolutely hate buiding up any Bianchi at work. They look nice and whatever, but there is always something problematic with them in the build, chainline issues and what have you. Just all around poor planning in the design and the components they choose for their completes.

Put a long piece of pipe over the wrench. That will give you leverage,it should come right off.

That ^^^^ and try squirting some lube like tri flow from the backside of the crank and let it soak in for awhile.

It seemed to me the turbine to fw steam would be a lot easier for me to learn, as I've been working on McCircles for a couple weeks and just cant get into them. I can ride in nice long circles in position but i just cant get the rear off the ground, when I do I end up straightening out.
[/quote]
Im having the same prob, I think im leaning too far back in the McCircle tho. Im atleast kinda figuring them out by stepping into them and standing up tall and leaning over the bars. Im starting to realize the key to not fighting with your bike is maintaining this kinda posture over the peg. Its kinda obvious to do this, but actually making yourself aware of it mid trick is kinda the tough part.

Yeah, It always hurt kinda, until you put your legs up. Hahaha BMXTRIX, I totally forgot about balancing inside the mags. You definately have an advantage starting with your feet in the mags.
That just remined me that I used to do Gumbys and had 2 seats and seatposts to switch out for that trick...haha.
Re: What's the most enjoyable trick? posted on 2006-08-07 20:19:56
As far a trick thats just fun to do. I would say funkychickens or steams. As far as Just goofing around, I love to see how long I can cruise dorks or no footed manuals. I could spend a whole day doing no footed manuals and totally dig it.
Re: FUNCTION BMX posted on 2006-08-07 20:13:21
I posted some months ago about Function. Had there pegs since they appeared on ebay.
Ive tried alot of pegs since I started riding again, Ill have to say these are my Favs, hands down.
And the griptape, Still has alot of grip and I dont think its ever gonna move around.
History of peg size posted on 2006-08-07 20:04:35
I pretty much didnt ride Flat in the "mid school" era. I remember seeing like standard handgrenades on some bikes in the mid 90s tho, thinking they were huge, having ridden those dyno 1" dyno thread on octa pegs in the late 80's.
Im just basically interested in the when and why pegs got so big back then and why they seem to be getting smaller now a day. Was it just for foot comfort or what?
