Definately some good and smooth riding there. Whats the location? Cebu?

Re: What size bars do you run? posted on 2006-10-11 19:57:55

I run Ody 44s, They are supposed to be 8", but I think that measure is bottom to top as odyssey measures them. They actually end up being more like 7.5 center to center. Ive always ridden bigger bars since back in the day. I would actually try something in about the same size, maybe with a little more sweep 6-10 degrees maybe.

Ya know, for the first time in awhile, I tried the tailwhip method into these, Like you would for a "true" pinky squeak. (CCW). I was able to hold the position REAL GOOD and get some pretty tight spins. It felt more natural than going from a firehydrant. The only downside to this, I dont have any rolling tricks to link into this method beyond doing it as a stand alone trick. I guess it would be ok to learn it this way, and apply it to the fire hydrant intro later.  I dont know if this will hinder me later learning it the other way.. any thoughts?

It appears to be. If it is infact not Osicka, they have very similar style.

There's the link, the alleged Osicka is about four minutes in.

If you're talking about the guy doing the pinky squeek variations, it's a Japanese guy I'm almost positive. I've seen him in many videos as far back as Flatland Manifesto 2 doing the exact same links. I can't think of his name though.

Yeah, I think its a Japanese guy too. I saw him in another contest vid from Japan, He was rockin the same Kore bars, and basically the same run almost.

Re: McCircle trouble posted on 2006-10-04 21:24:16

Thanks Okamura.  That sounds good, as you would have to balance you foot on the tire to do a pinky and have the frame go around 1 more time to get your positioning. If I go straight from a hydrant, usuall 1 of 2 things happen. Either I go so tight trying to get the tilt, the backend goes WAY up and the bike loops out underneath my foot. Or I go tight and the tire grinds the inside of my leg and im fighting it.  Guess im gonna have to learn pinky or fire squeaks. dunno if they are called fire sqeaks, lol.

Re: MEGA expensive Hutch Trickstar on eBay posted on 2006-10-04 20:12:55

Whoa!!!  Not really the nicest trickstar ive seen. However the real gems on it are the Aero Speed cranks and bear trap pedals, which probably command 1500.oo alone.

Re: McCircle trouble posted on 2006-10-04 19:43:30

Just want to point out something about the way im trying them. I think when I do them from a firehydrant, Im actually pulling the backend around like a firehydrant. Can someone tell me if this is right or wrong? If this is wrong, my guess would be that tilting makes the front wheel travel in a circle faster than the backend, thus thats how you get the "lock in". Tho, easier said than done.

Re: what tricks does it come with? posted on 2006-10-02 22:37:35

Hehe, thats too funny. I work in a bike shop, and sadly, on a diffrent note, people seem to think bikes maintain themselves.
Low and behold someone had to drive all the way to the shop, cuz the chain skips when in gear # 7, "and they paid alot for the bike" yada yada...  And when I turn the adjuster and tension their cable in 2 seconds flat, it pisses them off even more.
This is the Bane of my daily life.

Sorry for the rant, hahaha, yeah bikes that are programmed to do things for themselves.

Re: Todays Riding posted on 2006-10-01 19:39:09

I started to try turbining steamrollers  righthand>rightgrip, left hand on the seat.  God!!! It seems like its gonna be 10x easier, but the bust ass factor is 10x as well. Tho I do have to touch in the middle,  im getting more and more comfortable rolling in this hand position, Plus I figured out how to ride out of this style of steam.

Re: Anyone Heard of Lucid Dreaming? posted on 2006-10-01 00:18:53

I didn't know its called lucid dreaming, but I been able to place myself in dreams and become aware im inside it.

I guess my trigger is pretty standard, per say from the website. I wake up inside a dream, its a copy of my apartment, yet something is diffrent. Once I realize that I dont have 2 couches or there is xtra shit on my desk, its instant privelege to try stuff out, levitate, and general thought becomes reality.

On a side note, sometimes I dunno how to come out of dreams, I realize I want to get back to waking reality. So I hold my breath in the dream, and if you are making efforts to wake up,this tends to work.

Mostly I tend to Lucid dream in a nap state. Very rarely in a general sleep pattern.

Its kinda weird how most humans tend to talk about their entire life events regurlarly, yet privatize  self reflection in dreams.

Anyway, my 2 cents, great topic.

Re: bmx flatland can be best explained as: posted on 2006-09-29 10:01:54

ChyoD, I totally know where youre coming from, but to be honest, I don't see a reason to draw ANY comparisons to the general public. Flatland is Flatland, isn't that enough? Flatland IS Flatland's Identity.
I read so many posts on here that make it sound like flatland needs to be identified with outside lifestyles that are well known in popular culture. Its almost like people are ashamed to let flatland speak for itself.
Flatland is exclusive unto itself, It doesn't need to graft itself to breakin, b-boyin' or hip hop to be anymore legitimate. The same goes for street riding not needing to pass itself off like its skateboarding.
Dont get me wrong, I love all of these lifestyles/sports in their own regard. Just dont explain flatland to others by comparing it to other things, else the flat culture you wish to assert will never be asserted correctly, If that indeed matters at all.

Just Ride.
