flat/park bike, will some flatland parts hold up? posted on 2005-06-14 08:13:52

1- As said before, the ody flat fork, minimal offset
2- Plastic pegs w/ griptape, like the demolition. Or Liam from Ugly Ass Bikes makes light ass plastic ones with an alu core. Metal pegs are heavy.
3- MacNeil seat / post combo, or a cut-down alu post with a light plastic seat. Just dont sit on it for too long.
4- Perhaps the new primo balance rims would be a good compromise. They have holes like the Fly rims but on the inside.
5- Helium filled tires.

Since an amazone is a switch footed hang-5, I guess Uno's trick is a no handed amazone.

And the leg(s) being in front or behind does change the trick, cause both legs in front in the same position is a frontyard.

BMX has too many names for similar tricks :)

What, magenta and black? Are we back in the 80's ???

I use 661 shin pads and they are perfect. The open back makes them cooler. I dont mind having my calves hit, it's all soft. It's the bony shins that hurt (try smashing a JIm C pedal on both front and back to appreciate the difference; I had a pedal shape scab mark for weeks on my shin)

front wheel flips? Is there such a thing as "back wheel flips"??

Since the backend is usually shorter, it may cause your foot to rub against the back peg. I just place my foot forward when I'm hauling a chick on my back pegs :)

Plus, Dan has a habit of selling "completes" that are actually built with "poverty" brand cheap parts instead of the originals. Perhaps that's why it's 30 $ cheaper... Stick with Flantlandfuel. Dont sell your soul to a non-rider company for a measely 30 $...

Perhaps I am mistaking but doesnt Jesse P originaly put his free leg in front of the bars, kinda like a rolling one footed freak squeak ?

The guy I saw had the same chrome GT but with blue decals. Damn, if my spanish would have been better I would have gone and talked to him. I guess next time. Me and my wife go to Cuba about once each five years.

Which cities have the biggest bmxer population ? Besides Havana I guess...

Isnt the Mid supposed to be a flat / street hybrid? That's why it's heavier.

Damn, how do ever learn BW hikers in your first year??? ride 24/7 ??!?

2003 - Trackstand & variations, working on scuffing and rolling them

2004 - Endo & variations (one foot, can-can, candybar), Tailwhip, pogos, working on squeakers & fork glide

2005 - Relearning tricks on a real flatland bike, working on lifting the back wheel up on strackstands, eventually leading to side glides, funky chickens and steamrollers, working to balance on one wheel (trying hang-5, half-lashes and such)

Flatland en Cuba (more pics added) posted on 2005-06-07 07:13:39

I went to Cuba in April and did not expect to find any BMX there, specially in Varadero wich is mainly tourists-driven.

Well, I saw 2 or 3, including on that seemed like an old chrome and blue GT Show (!). I was not quick enough to go and talk to the guys.

I went through Cienfuego, Trinidad and Santa Clara without seeing any more.

Viva Cuba!

Yeah, but that's for riders from the old days. I'm just old. As in "late start".
