Flatland "New topic" posted on 2005-03-25 16:20:25

Another ITard

I'm an Oracle system administrator. I design websites on the side. And I once a week I host a radio show.

During summer I ride every day but only an hour or two. Sometimes I will bring my ride to work and take an hour long lunch break to ride. On weekends I try to compensate by riding longer.

That's pretty much the first thought that came to mind. These guys don't make sense. And a bunch of similar idiots all appeared on the board around the same time.

I mean, there's always been flamers around stirring up drama, but these are ridiculous.

Who's the flalander in the Propel water commercial. posted on 2005-03-18 09:20:38

I've seen an Interac add (canadian TV) with a short 2 seconds sequence at the end of some guy doing what looked like a trackstand or a fork glide. The place looked like old montreal, where I used to practice last summer. Didnt have any link to the add whatsoever.

Anyone has seen it?

I kind of like theflatlander.com's motto

"2 wheels, 4 pegs and a slab of concrete"

But it's a bit long.

Visually, a simple steamroller would really stand out as a cutout shadow because the bike is far away from the regular riding position. Sure a hitchhiker is more complex but the bike is too close to the body to graphically stand out as only an outline.

My wife tells me I am the only old guy still riding flat posted on 2005-03-14 09:30:42

I'm 31, been riding for 2 years only.

I wish I would have discovered BMX and flat as a teenager, i could have developped skills instead of trying to dirt jump on a 10-speed Canadian Tire bike...

So much fun. I try to ride at least an hour each day during the summer, can't wait for the weather to warm up!

Hoffman wheels are smooth as hell. The front one on my vert bike hums a C sharp when your going fast enough.

I cant wait to try the momentum!

Whatever works for you I guess :)

True, it's outrageous to pay 61 $ a month for shitty service. But there's no way I'll ride my bikes with the snow and salt and gravel.

I've seen pics of some rider doing them (park) with the font in front of the fork. Was it jim C, or perhaps Degroot? I'll have to check.

Pretty neat!

Comet tires for flat posted on 2005-03-03 11:21:19

A motorcycle friend of mind told me that because a bald tire has a bigger contact surface it actually has more traction on asphalt.

Dont know if this applies to regular bike physics though.

ARES Tires like to go BOOM! posted on 2005-03-03 11:16:40

Tire popping can also be fun fun fun.

I was inflating my brand new 100 psi tire with brand new tube. Sunny day, outdoor pump near a little "bike stop" cafe. BANG! The tube dies around 60 PSI and all the snotty little yuppies are staring at me like I just shot someone.

The tube was not evenly distributed and just pinched itself on the rim.

It happens.
hey <<<new member>>> from montreal city.
usually ride my beloved mongoose. i use the term loosely as i clearly cant ride shit right now.

let it snow. let it snow. let it snow.
Dont make the mistake of not riding during winter. I've been riding for 2 years and I cant do shit because I stayed inside during 4 months a year.

There's a *bike only* park on the island, www.uglyassbikes.com for info, the floor is slipery but it's a place to ride and there's some pretty good flatlanders there (and park riders too)

So now there's no excuses. Anyone who wants to go ride please do PM me. Apparently there's not a lot of people on mondays.
