Yea theres def only a couple beginner clips in that whole vid, almost all are expert level stuff. Guess there wasnt enough true beginners at the comp to make a class?

Street Justice Flatland July 23rd 2005

The basment hating crew consisting of Trevor, Underground pete, Terold, Kevyd, Prashant and myself got up kind of lateish because friday was....well.....late. So we totally missed registration, not realizing there ever was a registration time period. So we finally got signed up inside the 1664 warehouse only to get sketched out on a couple grab bags because they were out. 1664 hooked us up with some grab bags later on though which was cool. most people walked away with 1 if not 2 acs true tires just for showing up as well as a couple t-shirts, cd's and grips. Not bad for 25$. There isnt really a flatland practise area, so people just mosey around at street justice riding in the adjacent parking lot or riding on the street. There was a good turnout for this comp. Everyone from the jam showed up, add travis bentley from saskatoon, joey Kylio(sp) from cowtown, travis collier, another edmonton local im blanking on his name and prasheel gopals favorite rider ever Crusier flatland. The wind was going crazy all day, but tthe comp was blocked from the wind which worked out well. Everyone was split into jam groups of 4 and the comp went super smooth. With a quick flatland demo by matt beringer (crossfooted pedaling, crazy wheelies to back crashes), Cory Fester and Travis Collier. The riding in the comp was amazing, especially that of the champ Brandon Derbowka. He nailed every single combo. Blenders, upside down pedalling megaspins and many other crazy tricks. Percy Marshall was up to his usual crazyness, busting some serious side squeek tricks and a super nice pumping megaspin. Side squeek went down to the blender in this round 3 of blender vs side squeek. Billy boris rode real well, nailing a super smooth g-turn straight to squeeker flips and a crazy barspin thing out. Kevin Desautels Rode well with his crazy bag of tricks. I cant even describe what he did, but he did it well. Everyone else rode well, its hard for me to remember everythign everyone did. So I will let the video do the talking as cory fester filmed the entire thing. This comp was good, and so was the afterparty. Terry and I got kicked out of the bar early which sucked, but we made the best of it and eventually made it back for the infamous and soon to be legendary sidewalk party. This party consisted of cory fester groupie girls, Jed getting his pimp on in the back of a random car, street guys peeing in phone booths, me picking knocked over newspaper boxes off the streets and trying to get people to cheer for it, racisim(not cool), police batons, patty wagons and general tomfoolery. To all that came, PROPS on supporting an event that supports you. To those that didnt or dont care......... if flatland gets no love in the future, pat yourself on the back.

I just might see you at Street Justice '06.

1) Brandon Derbowka
2) Percy Marshall
3) Billy Boris
4) Kevin Desautels
5) Shaun Nystrom

STREET JUSTICE JAM/COMP REPORT*** posted on 2005-07-25 00:34:17

Friday was the first ever Edmonton Flatland Jam. It was perfect weather, warm, sunny and awseome. Amazing riding went down. Team Winnipeg was in full effect, Kevyd, terold, billy boris, brent and julian all made the trek. Team Sask was also in the house trevor, underground pete, jed and The champ derbowka all made it down. Prashant came from ottawa to ride as well and made his presence known in the basement. Of course all the edmonton locals came out for this one Cory Fester was doing some serious filming, tron was busting out, darren nordel was busting some mad decades and serious links, percy was WEARING A WETSUIT....BACKWARDS while riding, and shaun was cooking up free bbq for all his friends. The Lot was amazing, really big and fairly flat. Leaving most impressed, we had some run in's with the police and "the man" trying to shut us down, but mr.fester sweet talked them all away and actually got them to baracade the lot for us! Heres what I remember as personal highlights from the jam:

-Derbowka's russian dancer was amazing and his blenders were dialed as shit.
-underground petes riding lived up to the hype of brandon, with sick sick cross footed halfpackers.
-trevor oleniuk (sp) having some damn cool shirts that everyone bought and being soooo silky smooth and having 100000000x new amazing tricks from the last time i saw him. Smooth halfpackers and steam flips were on fire.
-Jed does not stop riding..................seriously. I saw a ton of "mike jacksons" and "thrillers". Pound.
-Terold pulling the most badass stuff for camera was very cool. Plus he got a free malaysian beanie. Sickest mccircle jump thing ever!!!! best switch.
-Kevyd has this new badass trick where i cant tell what he doesn but it starts soooooo smooth and ends in a cross foot thing?! Dope as shit. I got some video of his stuff....you will see.
-Finally got to see billy boris do the craziest barlip squeek things and drink so much beer at all times!!! Unreal!
-Brent is one of the coolest guys ever, made me laugh soo hard. His style is sooooooooo fast, and his nose wheelies were faster.
-Julian was busting out mad time machines, real smooth and was super psyched to stay with percy.
-PG was doing the coolest trick ever, some weird 360 g-turnish/slider. Very dope. The guy at the bar the next night wouldnt let him forget how rad they were.
-Percy.......... Full lot handlebar rides while wearing a skin tight wetsuit. Unbelievable. Nuff said. Turn up the sparf.
-Tron was rippin on some halfpack type stuff, very nice indeed and i have some footy of that.
-Nordel whoa....double deck..and g-turnish mccircle things.
-inbetween filming fester even nailed some sick combos which should be on a video near you soon. backwards halfpacker madness.

This jam was super fun, the turnout wasnt bad at all. Hopefully more will come to support this awseome event next year. If i missed anyone im sorry its 1:30am and im tired. This is way long, i will try and do a comp report asap. Thanks to all who came.
