I would suggest the Fly Simple. If you are taller and want a frame with room the Simple Int/headset at 19.2" is $129 or the OG simple 18.75" at $119 or get the newer 18.75" at $199.

Step 1: Do a sidesqueak either from a firehydrant or forward streamroller stop and pull the backwheel back and then into a sidesqueak.
Step 2: Hold the front brake, step your left foot from the left front peg to the right front peg, while your right foot is on the front tire.
Step 3: Release the front brake with your left hand and then reach over and grab the right grip.
Step 4: Scuff away in a wheelchair.
Flatland Getting Respect In the USA posted on 2006-03-13 20:33:02
I really think that post regarding “Why is flatland not appreciated in the USA?” is self pity. Let’s look at the reality of the issue. Let’s look for areas where Flatland is respected. After all what do you expect? You ride a bike and enjoy it. Is the whole world supposed to stop, watch, cheer and throw money?
We (flatlanders) do not shop at local bike shops we, have obscure demands and in many cases choose to stay away from the mainstream BMX scene. Street riders spend hours hanging out at the local shops and buy tons of stuff from axels and pegs to frames from the local shop. That is why you rarely see a Quamen in sold anywhere but Flatlandfuel and Dan’s.
Where does Flatland get respect? Everywhere. Matt Wilhelm did a bike show at a school on the north side of Chicago and the kids mobbed him for autographs. The gym teacher told him “We had Ryan Sandberg come and no one asked for his autograph.” A former Cub on Chicago’s north side was not asked but a Flatlander was. How is that for respect?
For a long time here in Chicago a rider named Hiro Tsuchida ran a team called Fastbreak. Every weekend towns and festivals hired the Fastbreak Team to come and perform. They could have hired a band or professional DJ for some of the fees charged for those shows, but they always chose Flatland. That is respect for the art of flatland. Some summers Hiro would book 80-100 shows and most of them flatland only. These days Hiro sells real estate but people still call asking him to send riders 5 years after he handed out the last business card for Fastbreak.
It’s not flatland that does not get respect but the riders that are doing the flatland. If you are a person that people want to have around their town, parade, contest, etc. Then you and your art will get more respect. If you are negative person who is always trying to fault find you will see nothing but disrespect. “See I told you they would ask us to leave the parking lot…” “It’s always the same kids at school tell me to get a car and bikes are for geeks…” or “Did you see Terry Adams on the cover of Ride?” “That commercial had a flatlander doing a…” “I entered the school talent show and a perfect run, now everyone at school is like wow your did that crazy spin whatever Wow.”
Or they will say there is that loner on a bike with a persecution complex.
Let’s fill this thread with all the positive responses about Flatland getting respect. Try and look for them.

Flatlot is right. There are a lot of people who would like to ride flatland, but just don't know it exists or they think they are too old to start. If people understand that is is not an age restricted sport and that it can be fun maybe more people would be involved. It is when there are more people that we get things like indoor riding spots at park district locations. Think of skating 10-15 years ago. You could build a ramp without everyone saying; "some one is going to get hurt and sue so we can't...." Now there is a skate park in every town. Once we get some people invovled thing with change.

Gensanity, that is really nice work. Bobby and McVictory, that is exactly what I am talking about. Thinking outside the box. If we can find a way to do it free and introduce the world to flatland why not?
Look at how big Snowboarding is, and how many people who wear hurly stuff have actually been on the slopes more than once or twice a year?
One of the issues in Flatland is that unless you have a bike and can ride there is no place for you. In otherwords we make no provisions for spectators or fans.We have to be nice to spectators, not hostile.

I was looking at the post above about why flatland does not get the recognition it deserves and I had a thought.
I saw an old Powell Peralta ad years ago and it had the phrase “Advertise Reality.” I started to think about all the places we could “Advertise” flatland. On the train to work there are all kinds of spaces where there were ads but now they are just empty frames. Other times it is just some ad for milk or city services to fill in the gaps. How about all those walls of boards around construction sites?
We have a lot of talented photographers (Skorn to name one) and Photoshop pros on this board. If we produced some cool photos blow them up poster size and asked all these places if we could use some of the empty space I thing we could create some grassroots buzz around flatland.
Anything has to be better than those fake graffiti PSP ads that are showing up all over the bare walls.
What are your thoughts? I know it is hard to show the actual movement in photo but I think it would be cool to see a few cool photos on a bus bench that the transit authority hasn't rented out for the month.
