waiting for the ups guy is fun...
everything on there is paint, stickers suck and look like shit IMO...
its not hard to do really....geuss i'll give a step by step...
materials needed-
sand blaster would be ideal, but paint stripper is good too and is pretty cheap $3 a can....
sand paper- i used 36,80,120,220 grits $1 for a leaf...probalby need 2-3 leafs for a whole bike
masking tape- any kind will do, i reccomend 1" to get in those tight bends $1
razor blade/xacto knife and pencil $5 if you go xacto... $1 or less with a blade
primer/paint i found that the best stuff was what i got at a local place for really cheap, use whatever you like...be shure to read the cans, but if you're like me and paint when its -20 outside, do a test part (i used an old seatpost) usually $2-$5 a can for spraypaint
ok...now onto what to do with them...
some people leave the stock powder coat and sand that instead of primer, thats fine unless, like me, the powder coat was all messed up anyway...
so strip the parts, spend plenty of time on this because this is the most important step and will determine how the paintjob turns out
start with the lowest number sand paper you have and work your way up untill you have nice, smooth bare metal
whipe the parts down with a rag and rubbing alcohol to remove any dust/oil from your fingers
primer time! give it a few nice light coats, i did 3
now its time to spray the color you want your graphics, if you only want them in certain areas then only spray them, i did 2-3 coats as needed for coverage
let this dry, preferably over night
now mask off your part and begin drawing on it with a pencil, you can see how i did it....then just cut out and leave behind your design in tape...
whipe with alcohol again
spray the top color - again, light coats are key to no drips
let this dry for atleast an hour(more if its cold out or the paint you're using needs more time)
take off your making to see how it turned out
whipe with alcohol
clear coat - i used a can and a half total, i dont remember how many coats, probalby 8-10 keep them light! you want to bury the edges of the graphics, but if you over do it with clear you will get drips that destroy the paint beneath it...
now if you can, put this in an oven at 150-200F for about 15minutes, if not just let it dry for atleast 24hours before you assemble it to avoid the dreaded easily scratched paint...
i did color sand each layer, which is using high grit sand paper with water on the paint, and is a fairly involved process which isnt really required to have nice paint, i just prefer to not have fat lady's ass in mine...most people dont spend the time/effort to do this exept if its on an nice car or something...
like i said, its not really hard, just be paitent, the good thing about this is that its very cheap, i spent $10 or so...you can do anything you want and its fun, espicially the fumes part
ok, i'm done typing...i can answer more questions later...
