Re: MEASURE YOUR FRAME & Fork GEOMETRY! (FRAME GUIDE) posted on 2006-07-25 22:00:57
Here are a few excerpts from "Bike Geometry 101" By Sheepdog on the bikeguide forum.
http://www.bikeguide.org/guides/geometry/geometry101.php
Bottom Bracket Heigth
Distance from the center of bottom bracket to a string at a perpendicular (90*) angle
The string runs from the center of the fork axle to the center of the rear dropouts.

Take the measurement and if you run 14mm axles subtract 5/16in., if you run 3/8 axles subtract 3/16in. This is to compensate for being over the top of the axle. Now add 10 inches (for your wheels, you ride a 20in).
Measurement - half axle thickness + 10 inches = bottom bracket height
This measurement should be between 11.5 to 12 inches for street/dirt bikes
Headtube Angle
Red is level, measure green angle. Not easy. Tires and other factors make this tough.

Seat tube angle
Red is level, measure green angle

The guide goes on in detail on measurements and describes bar measurements.
And here is an existing chart of frame angles/weights/lengths. Mostly pre 2004

Re: am i about to get ripped off? posted on 2006-07-25 21:46:35
It costs so much because Americans want to live in their 2 bedroom 1 bathroom house with their volvo out front and want to pay extra for 200 channels and for the internet to be on all day, and their nicotine and alcohol.
When I was in china, I could get a wheel built for like 3 dollars. I almost bought a good lightweight full suspension mountain bike with disc brakes for $250 USD. I could also get an electric moped for that price.
Itd probably be cheaper if you sent the hubs and rims to empire or dans and paid postage both ways.
Ahhh the post office and their postage fees. Yet another rip off.

u don't need to spend fuckin 700 dollars to get a light bike. i spent like 200 dollars total on my bike and my bike weighs umm, let me see, 25 LBS! the ppl who do complain about that there bike weighs like 30 and up lbs that gets annoying. that we can agree on. If u have any muscle or athletic ability you would be fine with around 35-40 pound bike. Geez, go cry in the bathrooms and slit your wrists little girls.
What bike do you have that weighs 25 pounds? I cant even get my flatland bike down there.

lolimbo, be careful with that seatpost clamp. It will snap without effort if you overtighten it. And you might want to run it backwards cause the edges are really sharp.

lachlan cameron went through 5 or 6 pairs of the sequence bars
Woorrrd, these things are hella weak, but I baby them as much as i can. The Jeff D ones are a lot better, but too bad theyll never go into production. It sucks that Sequence abandoned the bar/stem thing cause once these two are gone, I can never find another

Hello everyone!
The moment I've been waiting for has finally come.
I've been working on this hub for well over a year and a half. Prototypes has been ridden and abused since October 2005 without problems. And now the production run is in it's final stages.
I have no photos of the acual hub yet as I have not been able to visit the machinist in a while. Here are two renderings of the design. And also a photo of the prototype I've been riding.
These hubs will be available through me. I'll start taking in preorders now. The price will be around the €100 mark (approx $130) plus shipping. I'll ship anywhere, shipping prices will vary. ($6 - $12 depending on weight and country.)
I know it's not the cheapest, but it's definately unique and top quality. This will be a very limited run, so if you want a unique and functional hub. Get this one!
Color choices are TBC, but it's leaning towards one or two anodized colors, aswell as natural. And I will offer custom spraypaint colors at the added price of €5 ($7). The colors you can choose from are these: 1 2 3
The features are:
Low weight - In the same range as or lower than Profile Mini, yet durable enough for peg use. Final weight TBC.
Unique spoke interface - clean look, 36h only
Optional hub guard - choose between no guard (pegless riders), 1 or 2 guards. If you want 2 guards and 1 or 2 of the small endcones it can be arranged at a small extra cost.
Material - All 7075-T6 with hardened allen head or hex bolts. If you order the no guard option you will get shorter bolts with a rounded head. (Like in the photo) Steel helicoil in the 17mm female axle.
If you are interested PM me and we'll work out the details.
Also visit www.ejectbmx.com for more info. [Soon to be fully updated!!]

Re: Korean Police: Brutality, Murder, and other Mob Actions posted on 2006-07-19 10:17:34
Actually the people in these videos were on strike. They Korean Government would never let that happen outside of an American Base with all those cameras. They would "lose face."
But those KP's (korean police) are really menacing. Imagine walking by men in full riot gear standing 4 deep along a mile length of wall
Korean Police: Brutality, Murder, and other Mob Actions posted on 2006-07-19 07:38:27
This is the problem of a mandatory conscription of all korean males. Some go and serve in the army while others are used for the police. all these people are ages 18-22, and they all have i think a mandatory 2 years of service. ALL of these types of police have full Swat gear, and they help guard or US army base here in korea. I remember there was some protest one time at the base, and there were like 300 protestors and 5000 police. This is what you get when you let kids, ven ttheir anger.
Warning: Extremely Graphic.

Would you possibly want an 18.85 JPS with a steep headtube angle and a low price?
Re: Sweet deal on Odyssey Dirt fork posted on 2006-07-16 11:40:44
The Odys from epic?
Cause I got those for about that same price too, on ebay from epic.
Except after a month of waiting, I emailed them asking when they sent it, and then they said theyll send it out the next day.
Re: New Flatland Stem and Gemma Freecoaster posted on 2006-07-16 07:00:34
Yea, looked it up. Stem by KHE, just came out.
The hub is the thing by the Korean BMXer.
I doubt its jsut a repackaging of an internal freecoaster. The guy told me he "designed it, it is the ares boo and khe geisha (or nankai) combined). Havent talked to him in a while so I dont know if its any good.
