Around the World on Twenty Inches posted on 2005-03-18 20:37:50

Well, I've been thinking lately (a new trend for me), and right now I'm pretty bored with life. I really want to travel and see the world, but can't afford it. So I got to thinking, how can I travel for cheap or better yet, free? And I realized, why not just ride my bike? So here's the plan.

I'm going to be setting up a website, and sometime in the not-too-distant future, I plan on getting on my bike, and riding West until I come right back to where I started. I will chronicle my journey on the site with daily updates. (Well I will write updates daily, they will be added whenever I have access to the internet.)

I hope to be able to use the website I make to find places to stay along the route as well. Maybe I'll even be able to stop and meet some Pedal members.

Another thing I'm hoping for, is to use the website to finance the entire trip. I don't really have any money to speak of, so I'm hoping donations and/or advertisements will cover most of my costs. If it looks like people will actually donate, I want to try and leave the house with nothing more than an ATM/Debit Card linked to my PayPal account.

So, I was just wondering, what you all think of this, and if any of you would be willing to donate and/or offer me a place to stay and maybe take a shower for a night.

Tech/Repair/Parts posted on 2005-03-16 20:58:12

Parts overrides picture, all pictures of Parts go in Parts, due to the fact that I don't want them cluttering Pictures.

Move all the threads that belong here from all the forums except Flatland. They get upety about their precious threads being moved, so, for now, leave Flatland Part/Tech threads where they belong. All others should be moved. It's not a huge deal, just move them when you read/see them.

Byke, thank you.

Also another idea might be to both promote your event, and help out Pedal, by placing a Text Ad for just $10 a week.

BMX Video Torrents Thread posted on 2005-03-10 10:26:10

Guys, if you get permission from the companies to release these videos, I will host the torrents in a nice organized fashion, and they will get a whole lot of traffic. Get permission!

Pedal Revolution? Flatland Jams in the Flatland Forum? posted on 2005-03-10 10:25:04

Well, I don't think I need to say that, first off, this very topic is in the wrong forum. This is not a Flatland topic, so why is it in here? It has been moved.

Second off, the truth is I don't really care where you or anyone else thinks threads should or shouldn't go. I created the system we use now for a reason, and I think it works well.

This forum get's too much traffic to lump everything together into one forum. You say you don't care if your thread gets buried, but you should. Many people visit this site sporadically, and if your thread is in the Event forum, where it should be, it will probably still be on the first page, even a month after you posted it. In the Flatland forum, it will be on page 47. How many people are going to dig through 47 pages to find your thread?

It really isn't my problem if you're too lazy to click two links instead of just one. Want to receive the most exposure possible? Run an ad.

Maybe a better approach might be instead of trieing to convince me to let you post threads wherever you want, try and convince everyone else to read the other forums.

Otherwise, Event threads will go in the Event forum, and Flatland threads will go in the Flatland forum. Thank you for your time.

Download the 1987 Team Haro full-length video! posted on 2005-03-05 09:49:18

If you guys are interested, I could set-up a BMX Media Vault or something. We could get permission from the companies who released the videos originally, and then distribute torrents legally. Anyone willing to help me set something like this up?

I can host the torrents, setup the site, and so-forth.

I need you guys to get permission from the companies, capture the video, seed it, and send me the torrent to upload. If never_fade_away can get permission from Haro, I'll host that torrent as the first one. Let me know guys.

How-To Post Photos posted on 2005-03-03 10:09:41

First, you can't upload photos directly to your post from your computer. You can only link to photos already on the internet in your post.

To get your photos on the internet, you need to re-size them first using an image editing program. Next, you need to upload them. If you have a website, you know how to do this, and have somewhere to put it. If not, you can use the Gallery.

Once your picture is uploaded, view it in a webbrowser. Right click it, and select "Copy Image Location" or similar.

Next, when you want to post it, simply click the 'Img' button above the text area, paste the address in (Ctrl+V), and then click the button again. You're done!

You can send well-concealed cash (wrap it in a magazine page or two), but I'm not responsible for it. If you have any doubt at all that it will get here, don't send it. You're probably better off getting a Money Order.
