I'm working on some strategies behind the scenes that I think will really ramp up traffic again, perhaps even past where we used to be.
People I think are definitely just waiting until the site is active again to come back. As soon as I have the new layout finished (very soon) I'm going to send out a mass e-mail to all 5000+ members, and I think we will definitely see traffic start ramping up again quite significantly.
Good to see you still checking in duffshoe!

Re: who thinks the ps3 is an overpriced turd? posted on 2008-10-07 11:28:33
My parents actually bought a PS3 just for the Bluray player, but I would agree that it hasn't won the war by far. Physical media in general is on the way out, very soon all movies and games will be streamed or downloaded, over cable or the interwebs.
Re: Who thinks the economy will hurt flatland? posted on 2008-10-07 11:26:08
All very good and interesting points. But when the depression hits, it's probable the country will fail. If that happens, flatland will be the last thing on anyone's mind.
That said, it's very true how much the middleman can affect the sport, in a very negative way. They make 100% mark-up, and decide what parts we do or don't have access to. The problem is that these companies all have agreements with their distributors to not sell direct, and without a distributor it's near impossible for a BMX company to make any money.
Re: weight limits on flimsy flat parts posted on 2008-10-07 11:20:12
As a ~220+ pound rider who's tough on parts, I wholeheartedly agree. I go to the bike shop these days and laugh at the sprockets and wheels they try and sell me, and these are for street riding! Whatever happened to the burly ass parts manufacturers who built parts meant to actually be ridden and last for more than a few months?

Thanks very much for the kind words Tranq.
I've always stuck strongly by a policy of free speech here at Pedal. As long as a post doesn't break any of the rules, which I think are pretty reasonable, then everything is cool. The internet is what it is because of a lack of censorship and controls. To bring that back in, only ruins things, as is obvious with what happened to the other forums.
It's this kind of support that makes me keep going after 7.5 years. I'm very excited for the future of Pedal, because it seems there are many people who feel how you do, and who are just waiting until the site 'picks up' (and works) again to start using it. And now it's starting to pick up (and work) again, so here's to hoping it returns to it's former glory, or better! :)
Re: Mccain vs obama posted on 2008-10-04 14:33:45
Both of them are globalist pigs. I don't think I need to even comment on McCain/Palin, but Obama.. I'm amazed how many people are suckered in by his big pretty smile. His adviser is Zbigniew Brzezinski, for those who aren't familiar with the big Z, here's quote: "This regionalization is in keeping with the Tri-Lateral Plan which calls for a gradual convergence of East and West, ultimately leading toward the goal of "one world government.'...National sovereignty is no longer a viable concept". So there you have it, Zbigniew has stated many times he wants "one world government".
For those who don't understand why this would be bad, when Hitler rose to power of Germany, he was defeated because there were other countries with guns to stop him. With only one country for the entire globe, if another Hitler were to rise to power, there would be no defeating him.
Or to put it another way, the cliché "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" applies very well here.
So to sum up, McCain is obviously a horrible troll. But Obama is a shiny personality hiding some very sinister advisers and policies. Don't trust either of them, look into what they REALLY want to do, and who's talking in their ears.
Re: how do i search??? posted on 2008-10-01 13:26:41
So I know this is really crappy, but the best way currently to search is to use Google. Go here: http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&=&q=site%3Awww.pedalbmx.com&btnG=Google+Search and add your search term after 'site:www.pedalbmx.com'
I'm currently doing final testing on a new version of Pedal that will be up tonight. Once that is up, I'll make search the next feature I add and it should be up within a week. It's already written, I just need to test and finalize it before I let everyone use it.

Re: NIN IN DALLAS!!! posted on 2008-09-11 12:21:20
I just saw them at Red Rocks here in Colorado the other week, it was fucking SICK. I'm not even a huge NIN fan or anything, but I will definitely go to any show I get the opportunity to see. Amazing!
Re: Backflip on roadie? posted on 2008-09-11 12:11:33
I've never heard of anyone trying this, but my guess is (based on experience) that the wheels would simply collapse, which would obviously lead to a pretty nasty wreck. I've destroyed 20" wheels during flips, I'm pretty sure a road bike wheel wouldn't be able to stand up to it.
Re: Tailwhip??? posted on 2008-09-11 12:10:09
Sounds like you're not leaning forward enough. You need to keep your weight forward and over the handlebars, try to keep the bars underneath you.

No, it's just a shitty layout, lol. Sorry. I have a new one in the works, it should be up in the next week or so. I'll shoot out an e-mail to everyone when it's up. Thanks for hanging in there :)

This summer will be the rebirth of Pedal. I can't say the same for flatland, but we can always hope ;)

I appreciate it more than you guys know. Summer 2008 will be a crazy time for Pedal. It's only just begun.. :)

Damn double three whips. I'm almost twice his age and am still working on dialing my whips, let alone three whips! lol
I wish I was riding that young, I hadn't even heard of BMX until I was like 15.
Re: Wow, this place has changed a little... posted on 2008-03-06 12:52:05
Don't be so sure... ;)
I know things have been slow lately, but I wouldn't say dead quite yet. I have a new version of the site almost ready to go which will make things much easier to use.
I do apologize for the slowness lately, and do appreciate everyone's patience.
Re: Ramp builds offered in Central Pa posted on 2008-02-25 19:41:54
I think there's a market if you go after cities looking to build a public skatepark. Otherwise, if people are going to build home ramps, usually they want the cheapest route possible, and something specific, both of which make most riders build their own ramps. You may luck out with some rich parents looking to build something for their 7 year old, but as far as a large, consumer market, I doubt it. Good luck though!
