Re: buliding my new bike....suggestions on the nicest setup.....money not an issue posted on 2006-07-18 04:31:51

also I saw someone bend a Profile TI KP sprocket with their hands. It's not that strong. I bent the TI rails on a seat...flatlanding.

It's strong, but not as rigid, just flexible. people with TI spokes true and tension their spokes constantly.

and when it all comes down to it. If you suck, why suck on a $2,000 hunk of high grade metals.

Re: buliding my new bike....suggestions on the nicest setup.....money not an issue posted on 2006-07-18 04:28:45

the new FBMs are super nice. Ride sunday or odyssey parts.

why ride 36's? I don't know about other 'riders' but I hate working on wheels. I ride flatland and street on my bike. (and yes flatland kills parts. trust me) my bike is accidentaly 26lbs! I ride mostly odyssey parts, hula hoop rims, and 48 spokes front and back. 4x.

Money isn't an object...Lets analyze. Is this your first 'real' bike? If it is, buy any complete 500$-ish bike and you'll be set for a couple years! If you've been riding, why do you need our help? If you are good enough to need a bike so expensive, you should have been riding AT LEAST 3 years and through trial and error, know where and where not you can afford to save weight. I'm not trying to be a dick, but if your parents are buying you a bike and money is no object, you might be hording all the parts that everyone else needs. (for comparison, lets say 5 cars are made that are super expensive. 18 yr. old kids crash 4 of them...that leaves one car...everything else wasted!)

It pisses me off when I go to skateparks and see kids that i ANNIHILATE in the park, and I ride mostly flatland! granted I've been riding for 7 years. but all these TI whores are flooding the market! If it wasn't for all of them, I could guarantee TI stem bolts wouldnt be 40$ And do you realize that if you built the best bike (well the most expensive..) it could exceed $2000... thats what I bought my car for.

the most expensive parts arent the best! they're put on the market for rich kids to buy so the companys can have extra money they can spend in research, advertising, and materials!

Re: flatland in a k-swiss commercial posted on 2006-07-18 01:20:16

ClionB those aren't hollowbites, they're Powerbites. Your're new so I shouldn't expect you to know that though, lol.

I like how they make the flatland wear a helmet, but the people doin flips and stuff don't need one. Decent commercial though.

...It could've been a promotion of a new G-Unit cd with KGB's and t-shirt hat people with huge jeans.  8-)

Re: Messiahs posted on 2006-07-17 22:25:39

Messiahs are my new favorite trick in that case!
uhm...this is your FIRST front wheel rolling trick? or first hang-5 variation? Cus if you cant do steamrollers, wheelchairs, etc....and you're trying for messiahs...you're going about this the wrong way.

Re: better crank? posted on 2006-07-17 19:42:40

I hear about issues removing the WTP crank, and people saying the 41thermals come loose alot.

However! I took my time installing the 41thermal crank (which is waranteed, and is lightweight with the included hollow spindle) and It never creaks or anything. Doesnt come loose. Its been working perfect. I ride street on my flatland bike, and I've done a few accidental crankarm slides...no problems.

Thats a parking garage under a Superfresh in Ocean City, New Jersey. awesome spot.

when it's 50º out, I get psyched and go riding without a hoodie in just a t-shirt/no shirt. It's exciting.

It gets like 12º in the winter and 102º in the summer for New Jersey.

Found this weird band on myspace....lol posted on 2006-07-15 05:33:41

Re: Air Bubbles? posted on 2006-07-15 05:31:27

I DO! it happens to me non stop when my tires are bald. If I posessed the energy to take a pic, upload it, etc...I'd show you.

but you do a mccircle or something like that on a worn piece of broken glass or a sharp rock. maybe even a rough patch of blacktop. Your tires are so worn that theres an immeasurable amount of rubber between the threads and the outer surface...so it just ripped a lil piece.

Re: Lee Musselwhite's bike? posted on 2006-07-15 05:02:53

He has his own company, Inertia.

check it out on flatlandfuel?

I dunno if he's still riding that sym hub...good question.

he talks on the forums, perhaps he'll answer.

Re: barspin-friendly breaks? posted on 2006-07-14 03:40:17

and basing off the assumption that you just started riding...

take it to a bike shop. It'll be hell for you to install.

Re: a guide to bmx bikes posted on 2006-07-14 03:37:59

go to bmxtrix.com or bikeflat.com for pointers and trick how-tos for flatland and basics.

danscomp is the biggest mailorder company, and with their huge corporate power, they are able to give out a free magazine. go their website (www.danscomp.com) and subscribe. its absolutely free, and has ALOT in it. I read it whilst I crap.

Us flatlanders order everything off Flatlandfuel.com, becauase it puts money in the right hands, and Pat, the owner, is very reliable (and knowledgable)

Re: Best Flatland Shoes Today posted on 2006-07-14 02:54:26

hopefully its a joke...

cus you would drag your heels to stop, and you would just roll.

or maybe we could see it as putting your foot down in a trick and not losing speed? :?

Re: Grrr posted on 2006-07-14 02:51:24

anyone with a terrible bike...your best bet is to get a job and buy nice parts if you can.

If you can't, you'll just always be fixing something.

Re: stem injuries posted on 2006-07-14 01:08:49

Flatlandfuel has stem pads listed under safety gear (i think)

not a bad investment. they're like...8 bucks average?

Re: if money was no concern posted on 2006-07-14 00:05:46

he's a street rider, he doesnt know about Sick Child. I still love that commercial in Diversion. (the new Badda Bling! its got the 19, and the 13.5, and the 76...)

thanks for quoting me Moncho, lol. I'm only 19, but I've ridden various bikes...And if I built up a new oldschool bike today I would probably break most everything, and have a hell of a time landing anything.

probably your best bet is to buy the WeThePeople Sinus AM complete on Flatlandfuel. and make said minor adjustments to your liking. You could even rock the bars a little forward, and their stock width would be perfect. make sure to run your tires to the pressure rating for less resistence. I ride a 26.8 pound complete flatland bike, and I didn't even Aim for light. I ride a Federal Hamilton frame with a bunch of Odyssey parts (most waranteed) DiaTech brakes, Pr1mo seat. stick with what works. I'm sure glad I didn't jump the bandwagon with KGB.

As a matter of fact, I throw off my Function pegs, and throw some Odyssey GI streets on my left side, and fire down some ledges, manual around, 180 gaps, ride a mini-ramp. And the Bike takes it with NO problem.

Re: YeeHaa!!! posted on 2006-07-13 23:46:30

The duct tape seat makes sense, but the pedals? lol. Is that just to cover the pins?

What the hell tires are those???

Nice setup though, the orange bizhouse stem and suelo pegs are beautiful though. I want that.

Re: My brothers bike. posted on 2006-07-12 23:52:21

165mm cranks?...did you give him your old ones?

A friend of mine cracked a series 1 in half. he also broke an FBM Autopilot...so I don't know whats up with him.
but before he cracked it, someone else rode it for 2 years with no problems.

p.s. coolest thing to do for a bare HT is put a Stewarts Root Beer label on it. fits perfect. get him to buy an orange n cream stewarts.

Re: SMALLEST GEARS posted on 2006-07-12 23:47:24

we're used to it. haha.

You use that Haro retro sport thing for actual riding? I didn't think people would do that. I figured it was a sit and look pretty bike. I wanna see riding pics, cus it would look interesting.
