I thought this was interesting

Does the Anderson Park District require Skate Park users to wear helmets?
If not, why?

The Anderson Park District does not require users to wear helmets, although we do strongly encourage users of all ages to do so. There are many reasons why helmets are not required on the Skate Park. First, the Skate Park is a public facility; open for use by anyone during the park’s operating hours (dawn to dusk). It is much like the hike / bike trail, the basketball court, soccer fields, etc. Just as we do not require users to wear protective gear while using these amenities, we do not require users to wear helmets while using the Skate Park. Secondly, if the APD was to require the use of helmets, it would be necessary to pay a staff member to monitor adherence to the rule. To have a paid individual present from dawn to dusk at the park would be cost-prohibitive for the park district and, frankly, there is no money in the budget to cover such staffing. Thirdly, if the APD was to require the use of helmets, the Park District could be legally responsible if someone used the park without a helmet, unknowingly to us, and was hurt. Again, the APD strongly encourages the use of a helmet and protective gear by participants of all ages for their own safety. However, the decision is up to the user, or the parents’ of the user - just as it is with the use of any public, APD facility.

first of all, who gives a fuck . . .

second of all, it doesnt sound like youve liev in this country very long, cuz you havnt realized that were getting rammed up the ass, and having our "freedoms" dangled just out of reach. the reasomn parks requir you to were a helemnt is becuase of liability, idiot. if you were protective gear you not as likely to get hurt, and the park owners or whatever wont get sued. how would you like it if someone got hurt, and there parents sued the park, and it had to be closed, so you couldnt ride it anymore. to me a helemnt is a small price to pay to keep what we have.

i think all over 18 can ride without one and under 18's need a signed wavier from there parents with them when they skate/ride without one. (just keep it in your wallet....)

we set up this snow step up.. about 8ft tall, huge kicker.. well he tried a "trick" on it and bailed the bike upwards and it landed on his head, the seat did, and he got a concusion, it was funny we kept telling him he didnt have a gf and he beleived us then a min later hed say he did, then didnt and all that it was kinda funny we got him to beleive he got a girl pregnant haha

if he woulda wore a helmet he wouldve been ok most likely, he didnt know he was gonna try it but helmets do help.

if u think ur gonna try something big, get a helmet, whether its trying that 5ft spine for the first time or 180ing a huge gap, get a helmet, or else ima stand over u and laugh at u.

if u see what a brain does when it gets hit from ur head hitting the ground or getting hit ud be grossed out and go grab a helmet just to walk around the house.

i wear helmets at skateparks except the one here.. i dont try crazy stuff so i dont need to
