| Hi to all. I'm an experianced carpenter (20+ yrs in home building) and ex BMXer, current mountain biker, that will be offering custom ramp builds in Central PA. A couple of years ago I built up a bunch of modular ramps, boxes and 1/4 pipe out of scrap wood, just for fun. I ended up giving them all away. Over the years I have been told I should start selling these ramp. So here I am, I thought I would give it a try. I'm pretty excited about this because the modular design offers multiple configurations that can be changed around. I'm currently puting together a basic plans list with prices. I will also offers custom designs, say if you bring me in a drawing or sketch of what you want, I will put together an estimate. Smaller ramps will be offered at a pick up price with delivery and/or set up offered. Larger ramps like 1/4 or 1/2 pipes will be priced with delivery and set-up included because of the size and detailed installation needed. From looking online and what is offered and the cost, I think my builds will be more economical for the average skater or biker. What do you guys think, is there a market for these ramps? | |

| I think there's a market if you go after cities looking to build a public skatepark. Otherwise, if people are going to build home ramps, usually they want the cheapest route possible, and something specific, both of which make most riders build their own ramps. You may luck out with some rich parents looking to build something for their 7 year old, but as far as a large, consumer market, I doubt it. Good luck though! - Nick Busey ![]() | |
