man i havent been on here in forever, not even the same site, completly redone...anyway, I bought a whole new bike, complete custom, it's f'n sweet. but some of the parts i bought are kinda creepin me out, I cant put any kind of trust into them.

first off i got a s&m pitchfork xlt, damn its a sweet fork and so damn light, but a friend of mine at the jackson house in denver said that a few of the guys there had them and broke them clean off their frames. (yeah thats what i said) now i know s&m has a lifetime warranty but my front teeth dont and I just cant get that thought out of my head when Im flying through the air.

secondly, I got the new kink relief stem. again, this thing is hella sweet and holy crap light, but this thing, out of any other part i bought is giving me the most trouble. it wont stay tight, im scared as hell of it snapping (have you seen that thing? its like half a stem) and it has like half the clamping area off most conventional stems.

I got the animal, single bolt 1 1/8" seat clamp... like the third time I touched the damn thing I sheared the bolt, tighenting it about four turns in... I called animal, they said to bring it to the nearest shop (sorry joe) and trade it for a new one. ugh... the same thing happened with the bar ends i bought eariler this year but the bolt snapped from a fall...i mean, bolts?? c'mon.

my new pedals...I got the drive unsealed mag pedals.  i broke the outer cage ditching my bike out of a bowl. now, I pedal grind stuff all day, but it was like the 12th time i rode this new bike bike I paid a crap load of money for...but thats why i bought some cheap pedals, cos i pedal grind alot so whatever about that, there still ridable.

yeah this site has changed a bit. i like the new look but it runs like crap for me. i can't get to some of the menues though i'm getting around without them. this place has been dead for a while now. most jumped ship to a more stable platform. this is the only site i can get to from my work PC. my work place blocks all kinds of stuff now.

i here ya on the quality of parts. it seems to be hit or miss. quality has gone up and at the same time dropped......if that makes any sense. i got a pair of bars......one side has about a one degree backsweep. they are high end bars to. i won't say who's cuz i'm done complaining about shotty craftmanship. now i'm starting to make my own stuff. bought a pair of wheels custom, paid around $450 beans and the spokes look like they are pulling through the rims. they will probably last a while, just loosen up every so often. i've had some good luck with other parts though. my quamen frame is a bit older but i can't find one damn thing wrong with it. it's straight as hell, all the welds look perfect and its been takeing a beating now for over a year. same thing with my stem......never had a problem.....its a quamen product also. not that i'm pushing quamen but the guy makes some great stuff. i think now a days you really have to resurch parts......use the forums and ask peps what they think about a particular part. often times you'll get great reviews from real people who have had expirence with that part.

i owned a pair of s&m forks way back in the day when i started riding flat. i think they lasted me a handfull of weeks before they broke.........???.....can't remember where. i'm not sure how their new stuff is, i would guess and say just as crappy as they always were. i think the most important thing to look at is the quality of materials used in a part. anything made over seas is ussually made from sub-par materials. its how they get them parts made so cheap (and cheaper labor costs). so the cost of a part will most times dictate its quality. good luck......hope things go well for you.
