I wasn't sure where this thread would go, I figured the newb section would be fine. Okay, so I have been biking for about 2 years. I have been riding nothing but Haro bikes. I have never been a part of the online BMX community, or any BMX community really, so what I bought was what I thought was good or what the shop owner told me was good for me. I am now coming to you guys here for an opinion from a few different people. I am not sure where Haro stands in the BMX world. is it the standard other bikes are judged by? Is it crud compared to other makers? So far Haro has worked for me. Now that I am getting more experienced, hitting bigger things, my bikes are starting to wear down. What good brands are there that are worth buying, and will stay together? Thanks.

| Haro is a weird case as the owners, production methods and qualities of bikes have varied so greatly not only over time, but over their product lines at any one time. In other words, they made lots of shitty bikes before, they've made plenty of great bikes too. Currently they also make a few good ones, and plenty of shitty ones. Their 'pro' model and high-end stuff is probably great. As far as other good bikes that will stay together, unfortunately the best indicator of this can be the price tag. Usually in BMX the more expensive parts will last considerably longer. It also really depends on what style of riding you'll be doing, there a several brands known for flatland but I might not go with one of their street frames, and vice versa. Hope this helps, also just ask around. See what people who ride near you ride, and ask them what they think of it. - Nick Busey ![]() | |

Hah. the people near me that I "ride" with (if you could call what they do riding) pretty much worship me. They think Haro is the king of all bike makers- their opinion will not help heh. But anyway. I definately own two of the better bikes Haro has put out. But they are getting old and its time for something else, and i want it to be a nice, durable bike. I see all these nice bikes in the section of the forum where you post your pics and vids of nice stuff, and I almost never see a Haro bike there. I see brands I have never heard of, and they are of course very good bikes. I am curious if bikes like those are able to be bought like that. (I know the posted bikes are most definately not stock) Thanks for your help.

| What Haro bikes do you own? My first Haro was the Haro Forum Pro, which is still my current bike. "Haro is a weird case as the owners, production methods and qualities of bikes have varied so greatly not only over time, but over their product lines at any one time." In the case of the Forum Pro, it happened over a single bike. Some parts on it were lovely, all sealed bearing and amazingly smooth - but others just didn't work. I broke the freewheel after about a month of riding, and the axel on the front wheel bent completely for no apparant reason. | |

| I own both a 2005 "Backtrail" X3 and a "Function" F3, also 2005. Both these bikes have done well, very well, nothing at all has needed replacing so far. But the X3 will soon I know. the F3 was not nearly ridden as hard as the X3, (and not actually bought in 2005) so its in very good condition. What year is your Forum? | |

| I believe it's the 2007. I've changed the back wheel since I got it, but everything else is stock. | |

| WeThePeople are one I'd always vouch for. Mirraco are pretty good too. I'm also a fan of KHE, never had a problem with them. Btw, the maroon/cream one you mention is the one I have, but I have an arctic camo rim with a white hub and black spokes on the back. | |
