Adam, the only effective mod for making a Taska work that I know of is to unlace the hub and throw it in the trash.  Kent Pearson and I both got the old aluminum shelled ones bitd - I thought it was great....super light compared to my Suntour, seemed to work okay.  Then the next week I did a fakie on a mini ramp, the hub locked up, and I smashed my head into the ground.  That was enough for me.  Those things are dangerous, the only person I've ever seen run them effectively for any length of time is KJ.

hmmm, well ill agree theyre cheap....they deffinately dont compare in any way with a nankai or a geisha.

the only way to really get it dialed is to be REALLY familiar with it. open it up, look at every part know exaclty what part it plays in the hub.

other than that, its just alot of fooling around with it....you REALLy do need to have the wheel on a vyse to spin it and ajust it on one end....and jsut keep spinning it and adjustit it little by little...like i said, it just takes alot of screwing aroud with it to get it just right

another thing you could do is get good grease for when you re grease it. phillwood grease is awsome. then instead of using bearings with cages just put loose balls in there. that ill make it a little smoother. also clean it reall good when you overhaul it, use a degreaser and everything

have some slack in your chain.  Dont run it tight.  Only maintenance i did on it was to clean and regrease everything every 2 months
