I was down at the neighborhood pool parkinglot the other day, minding my own business, practicing and embarassing myself... Anyway, it was getting kinda dark, and i say a group of teenagers, about my age (15-17) walking up, just a sillhouette (sp?) of them. I knew right away they were skaters by looking at their outlines (tight pants, ect...)

So they come up to me while I'm trying to re-learn everything, and they start making comments about how bmx-er's suck balls, and how it's not hard, and it's no fun. WTF??? So after they got done flappin their jaws, they went to the park, right by the parkinglot and sat in the swings and watched me. The whole time, making rude remarks and threats.  By this time, I was royally pissed at them. And it kept going on, till I decided to go home.

Why is it that the skaters have to be little bitches? Are they insecure? Are they jellous?

Sorry if this was a little long.

Its not skaters that do that, its assholes. Im friends with most of the skaters around here, and I have heard of some skaters in AZ that petitioned to let bikes in skateparks right along side of the bikers. That particular group just thinks theyre badass because there was several of them and you were by yourself. If you were riding with five other guys and two skaters came up and started talking shit then Id say damn, theyre some hard core pro-skating activists or whatever, but thats not the case. Every punk ass kid who thinks hes joe-fucking-hard-core-gangsta is going to pick someone out to fuck with, if they had half a brain they would have been able to come up with a better  line than "BMXers suck balls, its not hard etc."

The whole skater vs. biker thing flared up when some bitch ass skater(Cabalerro or some shit like that) wrote an article in a skate mag about street riders fucking up ledges. Then every little skater who had their nose up this dudes ass kissing his taint decided they hated bikers too. Just  a bunch of trendy, mindless, ignorant drones. I read somewhere that jackass who wrote that gets pissed when bikers use the term half-cab too. I fucking love it.

hey man,. dont worry, things will change

I used to get shy and shit and not wanna ride in front of people,. well I'm not pro or anything but I can do SOME decent tricks now and I am 21 years old so no little punk bitch skater starts shit with me..

Just wait till you got some confidence, and less people will start shit with you.

There will always be people who hate on you thoug, nothin you can do about that, but if you got confidence it wont bother you,. and skills on the bike seem to bring respect I dont have any skaters working on kickflips come up to me and tell me I suck,. so just keep at it and get more confident dude!

I have gotten many a funny look from people walking by as I curse at the ground, lol.

I curse the ground too,..

damn its called flatland... not bumpy-dip-land.

a few of my close friends are/were skaters and they are cool as hell.

I've ridden in the middle of a school courtyard by myself, surrounded by about 4 skaters skating on the walkways around me.  We never even acknowledged each other really.  I just rode, and they just skated.  I really liked it actually.

From my experience most skaters are cool people

I don't understand why some skaters feel like they need to confront bikers though.  Do they not realize how bad it would hurt to get a tailwhip accross the kneecap?

Enjoy

I would have to say its not the skaters..its the peopole. Some people are just rude. Thats all. If it werent for skateboard I may have never foudn my way to BMX. Rondy Mullen RULES!!! So dont' let it get you down when some one is having a crappy attidude. I think you handled your self well..

Some times when I find some one that says what I am doing is easy. I will say okay here you try and I will do a Ollie on yoru skate board and you do a tailwhip!! Needless to say most of the time I can do more skate tricks than a most skaters can do bike tricks. Who knows some day you may just convert some one over!!!

Keep on Riding!!

You are gonna get hasseled no matter where ya live or what you are doing. Skater or nonskater there are still a holes who try to make themselves look good to groups by saying stuff about ya while you are minding your buisness. I have gotten that everywhere ive riden. The last time was at a park i was with a buddy riding on a basketball court and there was a court right next to ours and about 4 guys started saying crap. they went past the closest court to say stuff. If it was 4 riders and 1 guy he wouldn't have intentially started crap to look good.

people ingenral can just be a holes nothing you can do. thats life i guess we just need to ride in bigger groups so people don't say things cuz i could have been doing pro tricks and those dicks would have still said stuff

i hate to say it, but it will happen again. once in a while it happens to me. you know, your just doing your thing, when some asshole driving by the local ride spot, feels the need to yell something like: "asshole!" or "you fucking suck!". it's alright, just think, your probably getting more done in your afternoon ride than they will in a life time. another way of looking at it is, to thank the good lord you are not like those people.  those types of people will have problems there whole life, and some of them will never know why. it seems this type of stuff mostly comes from the younger kids (about your age). though there are some people who never learn how to act properly in public. i think when it comes from the younger kids, they're going to do a ton of things wrong before they realize whats right (so i kind of let them slide). when it comes from the older crew, there is no excuse.

congratulations!!......sounds like you are awake!!

Thanks guys.

The only problem is, I only know one other person that kinda knows how to flatland...And If he rides with me, it just makes the whole situation worse cause he sucks. Maybe I just won't practice into the night anymore.

Don't let kids mess up your practice. Just buy some cheap headphones and ride whenever you want.
