ok so im rippedjeans. ive rode bmx for a year before on a shitty bike. it got stolen so i stopped. now my passion has returned haha. im lookin to get an 06 gt bump. is this what i should probly start with (for mostly street and some trails)? i hear all of you saying to all newbs to get a fit, so if you say thats better ill get it. also. how do you build a good lip on a dirt jump? is it like a bump kind of thing or a curve. like would a tree branch make a nice lip? ( its about a half foot in diameter and very straight) or wats the deal on that. alright thanks guys.  :-D

dude i just bought it today. i was like "im goin to the bike shop" my mom says "do you want some money cus your birthdays coming up?" i say yea. she gives me 100 and my dad gave me fifty i was like WHOAH!

anyway the bike is AWESOEME. i thought it had full crmo but its crmo main tubes n fork, oh well. i love this bike man so much better than my one before. i can jump so much higher, and im pretty close to doing a whiplash. is yours in pink? or did you get onyx. so ya its a great bike im 100% satisfied.

pictures later.

do you know if it has crmo bars? probly not, i might pick up some slim bars.

Never bump topics, unless its been atleast 2-3days

they are pretty bad if they arent full cromo. Unless you are butter smooth at riding.

A tree would make a horrible lip, cause it would be like jumping a speed bump.
Lips are more of a curve. I will try to ASCII style draw one

  ---------------I=
  --------------I=
  ------------I==
  --------I====
  ----I======
-I=======
========

Now heres the key to explain that
the -'s are empty space
the I's are the surface of your jump (this is a side view)
The ='s are the dirt of the jump
Just add on a few few of sloped dirt to the bottom of the picture
and you have a ramp! YATTA!

In laymans terms, its a steep curve (lip) on the end of a moderate slope (most of ramp).

welcome to the board.  saw you got the GT. building dirtjumps is a lot of work. start by piling a TON of dirt, remember that when it packs down, itll be half as tall. once you have a big mound of it, start shaping it into a lip. check out Ride UK, they always have awesome photos of trails to give you some great ideas of stuff to build. thats the beauty of trails. if you can imagine it, all it takes is some elbo grease and determination to get it done. keep having fun on your bike. thats all that matters.

DUDE!!! my friend showed me this awesome set of trials. like fiften jumps in a huuuuuuggee long figure eight. it has a like levee high thing that you start on. go around, cross the levee high thing then go down the other side and it goes back up again. theres a slanted wooden wall at the top of the other hill then you go back down and your where you started. i guess these jumps have been here for like 15-20 years cus peoples big brothers rode them when they were little. so today was a great day. min day at school and rode the jumps all day.
