| I'm not scared of heights at all, but i must say on a vert ramp once i went up just over the coping, lost concentration, slightly over rotated and the front wheel caught the ramp and i nailed myslef into the bottom of the half pipe and since then i'm very cautious as i don't wear pads (only helmet and gloves) so as you could imagine, it hurt a little. | |

I think that you guys are thinking too much about a 'concept'. Just go for it, death grip style, don't touch the brake, pop off the lip, carve and hope for the best. Then you'll be able to do this: Alex Bathurst, UK.

All I can say is you're thinking about it to much. You cant let is scare you. Just keep working your way higher and higher. Airing isn't something that just comes to you all of a sudden. You cant just touch the coping once and decide to boost 10 feet. It's all a mind trick. And you probably did that manual down the tranny once cuz you pulled off. On any ramp with vert you down pull of at all. It's all in the legs and arms. It's how you hit the coping. If it's a kind of wide vert wall practice airing kinda long instead of straigh up and back down. Just flow with it. Just extend your legs slowly as you come up the trany and as you get to the cpoing you should be almost fully extended and just stop there. The coping will do the rest if it's set in right. It's not easy to just type to someone and teach em to air out. Just dont stiffen up. Keep all your muscles loose so you dont freak out up there. That's how people eat shit. Once you come off the coping just keep your eye on the coping so you can tell if you're gonna nose case or land flat or whatever it may be. If you're calm the whole time you can adjust yourself to where you need to land. Sometime you ARE gonna case or land flat. But dont let it stop you. Just get back up and try it again. Or you will be in the same position as you're in now. Scared! Just redeem yourself. I hope I helped. Post a picture or somethin once you start gettin it down. If someone gives you shit for it, it doesnt matter. They were in the same position as you at one point in there life so they should respect it.

northwest ken said it best, dont freak out. you cant overthink things like that or else youll wind up in the hospital... just go with whats comfortable and ride within your limits. find a 6 foot pipe to ride. I used to ride dirt and race back in the day and people tell me riding vert is alot like that but I tend to air out of the bowl to the deck or out to the flat sometimes. I dont even like riding park that much, I am more into street and prefer banks to pipes and I air so fucking high sometimes off banks that some of my friends ask me why I dont try a 3 and fakie it out, which sounds crazay to me but they see it from a different perspective than I do. but again I must tell you, practice makes perfect, in anything you do. also, I recently fell pretty fucking hard in a bowl a week or so ago, so now Im focusing on rails again just to get my mind off vert. and about a month ago I missed my front peg on a handrail and busted my shit even harder than last week, which made me hit the vert. change it up, dont get fustrated, dont get scared, try something, anything else but what your afraid of and that will build confidence to try something your afraid of. its time to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and I'm all outta gum.
