I used to be on these forums pretty much everyday. Then I started slacking off some so I doubt any of you remember me.

Anyways, about 2 years ago I was riding better than I ever had been. Pulling all the tricks I tried and etc. Then I had a bad fall and had to have surgery on my AC joint in my shoulder. Half of it had to be sawed off. Since then it's been hard for me to get back into riding like I was. I still ride, just not as often as I did.And I still had every bit of excitement about the sport as when I first started. But now I want to get back into riding street and park full blown again. Do you think it's possible for me (20 years old) to get back to where I was before I had to have surgery?

Its all about commitment, and practice... and not messing up that shoulder again...

I'd bet you could go beyond where you were before, with the proper commitment.
I just think you need to make sure that shoulder is OK, cause genearly your body gives you
two chances not three...

2 years ago, I had my ACL replaced and my miniscuc in my rt. knee fixed. 3 weeks later, I could ride my bike for distance, then another 3 weeks I was able to ride75% as long as I was careful. Now, its like I never even had it done.
BTW, I was 34 when I had it done, you should be ableto shred no problem, especially at 20 .

i had the same as jimbo, not the ACL, but some of my miniscuc removed, took like 1 week after surgery before i could ride my bike, and then 3 more till i could jump, but then i got limes disease about 2 days befor the 3 weeks was up, and so now my knee is all swolen and hurts, but i've only got about a week or so of medication, and that should be all cleared up, it sucked becaus it was a whole month from time of injury till surgery, just prolonged my "unable to be as good as i could be" time.

hey jimbo u live near me sorta, who'd you have it done by?

Whenever I have gotten back after an injury/surgery I take it easy and build up the muscles around the joint.  that will help hold everything in place.  Stick with your physical therapy and stretch.

I think mine was 2or3 hrs. I was knocked out, they wanted me to stay awake but I was like screw that shit.
But, just like brett said, physical therapy is the shit. I went every day for like 4 weeks, then 3 times aweek for the next 2.
After that, between riding my bike and climbing ladders at work the Dr. said that I was pretty much doing more than p.t. could do.
Another thing is dont rush your recovery, it took me almost 2 weeks before I could turn the pedals 1 time, and it was frustrating as hell.
