well started about 2 weeks ago, then got a punctue so had to wait for new parts lol, so today was the first day ive been out this week!

anyways, i know you all say flatland is about patientce and it takes time, but im wondering if i just have really bad balance!  im just starting with sa few simple things like endos, brakeless endos, peg wheelies and then trying trackstands.  but i cant balance trackstands at all, not even standing still before i try scuffing or anything!   i do it just like described on bmxtrix.com, but im just wondering if lots of people start off like this and have to improve balance, or im just useless

also, are these good tricks to be starting off with?  they all seem simple enough and teach the basics, but are there any others i should be trying as well?

on a good note though, after about 2 days of trying them, i can now do bunnyhops about a foot of the ground haha  :-D  only when im not tired tho, after a bit of riding its more like 6 inches

thanks

yea barspins are a good beginner trick as well...and if ya can go on over to flatlandfuel.com nd pick up the ground rules dvd..this is a great dvd to get, matt is great at describing in detail what u have to do for each trick..and it goes from beginner to intermediate.

and dont worry..it takes a bit of time to get the trackstands..your not useless..lol

went out today for a few hours practising barspins and ive pretty much dialed 180's  :-D

360s im riding away about 1/3 of them, they tend to just land a bit early and the bike just flips over to one side  :-(

im sort of clamping my legs round the seat to try and get wieght off the front tire, and when i got home, ive rubbed all the hairs off my legs where they were rubbing on the seat! 2 little bald patches haha

I've noticed EVERYONE starts out saying stuff exactly like this, thinking theyre worse than everyone else was when they started :P

And for the record, I still can't trackstand.  Learn Hang 5s, that was the first trick I worked on

haha, must be because we see other people doing stuff and making it look so easy!

ill start on hang 5's in a week or 2 when i get a new frame and fork.  at the moment im on a street bike and the handlebars get in the way when i try and stand on the front pegs!  too much backsweep on the bars and the forks are offset too far forward i think  :?

anyways, like i said, ill start trying them when i get my new parts, thanks for the tip  :-)

You sure they really get in the way that much?  When I started I was riding a Gary Fisher Rig, a full on street bike, and I'm actually still using the stem fork and bars from it, all offset and swept as hell.  The bars mostly get in the way when I'm trying to go around them, like on Time Machines and Fork Glide rideouts.

this is my bike at the moment.  the pegs are just too far out in front for me to get on comfortabley.  you have to bear in mind as well, something ive not mentioned yet... im just over 6'3"   most of my height is in my legs so they tend to get in the way at times  :-D
