Oh my

You know there is a set of silly and long ago disproven arguments Young Earth Creationists make that theyve been given the term "cameronisms" after actor Kirk Cameron who still uses them in preaching videos

If you want to avoid looking like a boob, theres a creationist site telling which arguments to avoid

http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/faq/dont_use.asp

The second law of thermodynamics does NOT cause entropy in a system where energy is being put in constantly and directed

How the HELL you think your refrigerator works man???

If this second law means what you think it does, your eggs would be spoiling as we speak

You are incorrect, the definition I gave for the 2nd law of thermodynamics is not my own.  And yes--entropy always increases in a closed system, and the universe is a closed system.  So entropy is always increasing in the universe as time progresses.  Eventually the universe would fizzle out into nothing, as the Big Crunch is no longer considered realistic.

What I said is far from bullshit; It is the absolute truth.  Matter cannot be created or destroyed, matter is everywhere, guess it was created.  Who created it?  Something outside of the laws of physics.  Let's kill 2 birds with one stone...

...as for who created God, consider this.  If there were no matter there would be no time.  Time is a created thing.  This is an objective fact.  If God created matter He would have created time.  Now if there was no time before the universe was created, God wouldn't need to have a beginning.  Humans, which are subject to time, naturally feel as if everything must have a beginning.  But if you created time you wouldn't need to be limited by it, for you created it.

Ride on

No... You're wrong.

It is not "truth". Matter is a vauge term that scientists use collectively to describe different types of particles, their mass, and the energy that they hold. This idea is one of the backbones of E=mc2 and where Einstein was looking for a new scource of energy. Matter can be destroyed and converted into energy which we have already established will eventually fizz out of existance through entropy. So, yes, matter can be destroyed. Energy however cannot be simply "destroyed", but rather, can burn out.

You're also totally dismissing the notion of anti-matter and dark matter, but hey, it's not like you read up on anything you're talking about anyway.

Also, just because something exist does not mean that there needs to be something intelligent there to create it. Again, your science is bad and you should quit while you are ahead.

I love that Answers In Genesis site. They keep adding and adding and adding to the list of arguments not to use, and then they just re-word the arguments and use 'em again until somebody finds the right way to re-word the refutations and the arguments go back to the list. It's like a little game.

they still got us beat though...Until a scientist can bring a technique to counter "The Gish Gallup" we will keep "losing" the open ended public debates.

I nominate Josh Smalls of the MB BMX Crew, with his incredible smack talking skills and "colorful " use of the english language to spend a week with richard dawkins so he can learn enough to take on Kent Hovind

Oh wait

Dr Dino is going to jail!

nyuk nyuk

maybe he can take on Ted Haggard?

ooops...hes busy too :)

Josh Smalls Vs Duane Gish will be the fight of the century

I think I will quit.  Because when you argue with a fool, spectators can't tell who is who.

Oh, we can tell, as far as this subject goes.

Educate yourself, dude. I hate to see a good mind go to waste.

Want to give a definition of matter, as an indestructable quantity?

This one was REALLY hard for me to wrap my head around but look at the equation, E = mc(squared) for a while

It seems to me that the equation can be taken to mean that mass IS energy and energy IS mass. What we define as matter may be just energy behaving a certain way.

To put it on a way bigger scale (but still really tiny), look at an atom model. They say the electron is going so fast, that it can be thought of as being all along its orbit at once. So its not so big, may not actually "be" at all, but if you are coming towards it it will feel like a wall. When scientists run particles in atom smashers, they find they need the same velocity to hit a nucleus as they do to hit a nucleus and an electron.

Im sure I got a good chunk of this wrong

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservation_of_mass

So matter could be destroyed, as in converted to energy and not violate the net zero energy of the universe

You got it... Sort of. I have to run to the grocery store, but until plywood here starts citing some actual facts, I might just continue this discussion into the realms of physics and the cosmos because those are fucking  8-) as hell.
