how about, the world is flat, or the universe revolves around the sun, just a few well known wrongs. Or how many times has medicine not worked?

some people need an outlet, a hope, and religion is it for them, what's wrong with that?
you do not have to convert(its your loss), but at least leave every1 else alone.

2 cents = ever heard of "will to power"? essentially, it's focusing your will and energy into a goal. for instance; if you focused on the task of waking up each morning at 6am without your alarm clock... in time, you will be waking up without your alarm clock every day. i'm sure a lot of you have done this and it does work.
now, lets say your every waking thought and focus is to save your money so you can buy the car you want. if you seriously focus your will to this task, in time you will have saved that money and bought that car.
lets say you're scared about the potential outcome of a doctors exam and you focus all your will into the relief from this fear... you most likely wont cure whatever you're sick from, but you may find the peace of mind needed to accept all possible outcomes of the exam.
this is what prayer is. it's the focusing of ones will to the accomplishment of a goal. there's nothing wrong with directing it toward any "god"... that's just the focus point inside the individual to direct their will towards. it makes it easier for many people to think of the focusing of their will as talking to a higher power... and in a sense, you are, wether you believe in a god or not.
so, in answer to the question of the thread... just put your will into motion against whatever it is that's troubling you. if that means taking a few minutes before you go to bed where you set your thoughts and will in motion towards this goal, then do it then. if you sit with your eyes closed while taking a crap and just ask yourself the questions, focus on the potential answers, organize your mind so that it's energy is pointed to the fulfillment of your goal... then do that. so long as you're taking the time out of all the input around you to clear your thoughts, pose the questions and focus on the answers, in time, your world will begin to bend to the will you've set against it.
then... when you've managed to manipulate your environment to the acquisition of your goals, you can attribute it to god, your own free will or whatever you like.
there's nothing wrong with prayer. we ALL do it. some of us just call it different things.
