| For seven years I worked as a news videographer. Through that job I met people from the music, sports, politics and film industry. It would take a while to remember who all I have met. Outside of that I met a lot of people in music by having a presence in clubs.
Not too many people really excited me to meet. Mainly because most of the time it was work related. Run-DMC- I was sent to shoot an interview with these cats after sound check. I was later invited back for the show that night. During the show I was on the side of the stage out of sight but to see the Kings of Rock doing the "King of Rock" was incredible for me. I never thought I would see those cats live. It was dope. After the show Run and Darryl were talking with about six of us backstage. Somehow the conversation turned to religion. Somehow I made mention in not believing in a physical manifestation of deity. Rev Run goes off on me. He is telling that the Bible says Jesus is the way. I told him that the Amway pamplet says that Amway is the way. Everything mellows and my wife and I leave. We were walking back to the car and I was kinda bummed till I realized that a lot of people give them props (that they deserve) but I am sure he remembered me more that most people. During this time I also me Jam Master Jay. I had seen DJ'ing before I saw him do it, but seeing JMJ was the first time I thought, hey, I think I can do that. Saul Williams- This cat does poetry/music. I first saw this guy in the documentary Slamnation. He was also in this great film called Slam. He was a major influence on me becoming a spoken word poet. I have met him before or after most of the shows he has done here. The first time was a book signing. I know it is not music but I almost got into a fight with one of the dudes from Dawson Creek. Not the Dawson, but I think his last name is Jackson or something. I had never seen the show. He was in town shooting a film. He shows up to a hip hop night at a place I like to call my "other" living room. I was flexing the mack and talking to this chick. She told me how she went up to him and said I love your show. She said he turns around. Literally the cold shoulder. Rude as hell. As an entertainer myself, even if I am not in the mood I will engage someone that has dug something I have done. Ok, I am out on the patio talking to another chick. Oddly enough she tells me the same story as the other chick. She points him out. He is about seven feet from me. I get his attention. "Yo, Dawson's Creek." He looks over to me. I tell him you don't come in my house treating my people rudely. I proceed to tell him, he ain't shit, he is not even on a real network. He is on the WB. I can't remember what else I said after that. I next I gave him the international "you want some of this" gesture. Obviously he didn't want to scrap. The funny thing was about two years later I sick as hell in the waiting room at my doctors office. One of the chicks from the club that night remembered everything that happened with that encounter.

| The Charlatans( they did a couple of small venue gigs in Glasgow prior to a tour and their manager invited us back to the hotel bar where they were staying as we had travelled up from London). The lead singer had more hash under his fingernails than most have smoked and it was only a matter of time before their guitarist would get caught holding up a bank. Now thats rock n'roll!
De La Soul - they did a gig and I bought them drinks at the club apres. Vodka and cranberry if memory serves me right. DJ Shadow may have looked at me - this has not been confirmed. house Dj called Trouble....at some club in London, start talking to some guy and he introduces himself as Trouble....I was a little wary as I had been mugged in a club a few weeks previous... but he was cool enough
