Hit hard. use a tube that slides into your fork steering tube and use it to bash the headset ring. hard

thats how u fuck things up. see that compression race isnt as STRONG as u would think, its soft aluminum, one hit with a screwdriver and u got a gouge halfway through, hiting it with a tube would crush it and flatten the race wedge making it basically a spacer, which will leave you with bad compression which will mess up ur headset and frame

beating it with a hammer is another dumb idea, it works for most headsets because the race is made from CHROMOLY, this headsets race is ALUMINUM.

go take a hammer to ur aluminum sprocket, take a hammer to ur steel sprocket.. the aluminum dents and dings and bends.. the steel dont reall

now go do what u did to the sprocket with ur headset RACE that COMPRESSES THE HEADSET and have a FLAT WEDGE try to COMPRESS the HEADSET that NEEDS COMPRESSED WITH NO COMPRESSION WEDGE..

why do u think it is a sharp wedge? so it can cut things?

rubber mallet is fine, but a hammer? what are you some kinda fuckn retard? you NEVER use a hammer on your bike unless its a headset cup or bb cup, and thats with a block of wood or something like wood so metal on metal contact dont occur.

why do you think cars use oil? so they can waste more $$? no so they can stop metal on metal contact, once metal hits metal, it aint good
