I did the calculations. And with there 551,155 tons of dung (1 ton equals 2,000 lbs), so 551,155 X 2= 1,102,310 (lbs of dung a year) = 499,999.405 KG.

think of how much mushrooms you could get off cow shit, not gasoline. heck why not do both gasoline and shrooms? infact that may do wonders for our economy. www.myspace.com/weredonkey

I did the calculations. And with there 551,155 tons of dung (1 ton equals 2,000 lbs), so 551,155 X 2= 1,102,310 (lbs of dung a year) = 499,999.405 KG. You should have multiplied by 2000 instead of 2. (551,155 tons)(2000lb/ton)(.45359kg/Lb) = 499996792.9 kg If they extracted 1.4 Ml from 100 G of dung then that means that you get 14 Ml for ever Kg. 14 X 499,999.405 = 6,999,991.6 Ml of fuel for all that dung. since 1000 Ml makes a liter we divide 6,999,991.6 by 100 and get 6999.9916 liters of fuel every year from this method. divided by 52 equals 134.6152231 liters per week, which means maybe 3-4 cars a week depending on gas consumption. converting you get 1.4mL gas = .0014L gas 100g dung = .1kg dung 499996792.9 kg dung(.0014Lgas/.1kgdung)= 6986000L of Gas for the whole year. If they stay at their 5.5 million barrels per day they use about 2007.5 million barrels per year. taht refines to about 946.933 million liters of gasoline per year. so 6986000L/946.933 million L = .00723 so they would come up with .7% of they annual gas through this process....which is basically useless. But if you think of it. the .7% japan produces can supply the british virgin islands, the cook islands, karibati or other areas for an entire year. Compared to japan its not so significant, but for other countries who knows. Japan is third on the globe for oil consumption, something small to them can be huge for someone else. -Evman
