15+ foot airs from a skateboarder... You might want to remeasure that

Several facts about biking/skating/frootbooting:

1. Don't attempt to drop into a 12 foot quarter until you can master an 8 footer.
2. When you do attempt to drop into a 12 foot quarter after only a few minutes at the park, you will probably eat shit.
3. The vert ramp is a scary place.
4. Foam pits are very fun. Even more fun is jumping from about 20 feet into one.
5. A 35 pound bike going 15 miles per hour has enough momentum to air 3 feet out of a quarter with no rider on it (yeah, I did that today and don't worry, I was like the only one in the park at the time).
6. There is such thing as a good skateboarder.
7. Don't underestimate the BMXing abilities of a fatass rider with a 35 pound bike. He might be better than you (in my case, he was).
8. Frootbooters like to get in the way. A lot.
9. It is possible to smoke a cigarette and skate a vert ramp at the same time. Not me, someone else.
10. Rail + balls = pain.

Things that happened to me:

1. I actually did mast dropping into an 8 foot quarter from both sides, but when I tried to drop into the 12 footer, I ate shit.
2. Skatelite makes an excellent sliding surface. I was on a line from the top of the park and was going pretty fast and I tried a wallride of sorts and slid out towards the top and ended up sliding about 20 feet on the skatelite and about 10 feet on the concrete. I was surprised, however, as it did not hurt at all.
3. I was also able to master the 10 foot quarter, but the first time I tried it I went in too steep and flipped over. It hurt, but thank God for helmets.
4. I was going around a corner to go to the foam pit, and some little jackass on a bike came in flying around the corner and hit me. Neither of us got hurt, but it still pissed me off.
5. I met a group of amazing BMXers who kicked ass. They were throwing 540s like nobody's business.
6. I also met a few kickass boarders who were easily doing the 15 foot+ vert ramp.
7. I attempted to air out of a quarter but came down wrong and knocked my stem out of alignment. I was able to borrow an allen wrench and fix it, however. I never did successfully air out of a quarter.
8. I nailed a double-peg grind on a funbox in the middle of the park.
9. I was able to master dropping in on the 8-foot quarter after only a few times. It was a lot easier/more fun than I thought.
10. At the end of my session (thank goodness) I came down hard on my wrist and I sprained it pretty bad and now it really hurts.

Besides hurting my wrist and a few pretty hard bails, my first experience at the skate park was a kickass one.
