I just don't get why you feel the need to tell everyone you're straight edge, seriously, no one cares if you do drugs or not. i never said i cared if you cared or not, if you dont care then just ignore it ] ![]()

| This is probably going to come off really jerkish, but I'm just wondering myself. I like Al's question and would like to know the answer instead of a defense. I feel as you get older you don't want to label yourself, as it may close you off from meeting new people. As when your younger you will hear people bragging about what they do. Nothing wrong with doing (most)drugs or being straightedge. I believe theres something wrong about forcing your personal beliefs on other peoples personal beliefs, which can go both ways. | Flatlot is pretty wise.
But a lot of drugs will mess up your life, one being heroin, another being cocaine. There's others as well, but most drugs are bad news. I know too many people that have ruined lives from heroin and other addictions, and I'm only 16 (These people are much older than me, early to mid 20's). But yeah, not all drugs are terrible. Marijuana is a gateway drug, but I know very few people that are addicted to it to the point where they get withdrawls. My bike sucks... But it's all I got!

| i think labeling yourself 'straight edge' is a simple way to say, "unlike most of our society, i don't subscribe to the common belief that living recklessly is the way to social acceptance. this is my rebellion... my commentary on our sick youth of today"
it's the waving of a banner of self-respect in the faces of those who would belittle one's commitment to self. straight edge kids are far more often told their beliefs are not something to share or be proud of... and, if you think about it, it's a pretty sad state of affairs when accepting the ruin of self is more accepted than the preservation. p "bite the bullet or swallow it whole" - mudvayne

| It's a shame when ANYBODY is looked down upon for their beliefs. Stoner, straight edge, goth, punk, whatever. But it happens, and it'll always happen. All you can do is try to live your life the best possible way. My bike sucks... But it's all I got! | |
