What's the big deal? People are trying different ways to deal with their husbands being in a warzone.

Thats a great idea. Laughter is the best medicine.
you are just upset that it involves government. Laughing instructors are pretty common, and a lot of psychologists say laughing is good for you. so whats wrong with teaching people to laugh?

Actually, prevention is better than a cure....You cannot cure the pain a mother feels for her lost son...and that is what happens when people go to war. Sons and daughters die.

I would encourage you, brother, to more than scratch the surface of any issue you want. That way you will get to the heart of the matter, as they say.

You may remember Rome, a fully entertained society, unaware of the realities of its predicament, and its impending downfall....

well as you can see you cannot prevent was has already happened. I dont even know what to say that you argued about a common phrase of "laughter is the best medicine" i dont even know what to say that was just so dumb. the issue was teaching people to laugh. and i said laughter is the best medicine. I dont get why you would say anything about prevention or bringing in the "we should not have gone to war in the first place" it had nothing to do with it. Good job at diggin way way way too deep on this one.

I don't believe I argued - that is your interpretation.

I understand that you don't get what I say.

The point is, for the Pentagon to be trying to get people to laugh, it is a little ironic considering how much death has come from decisions that have emenated from there.

Again, you barely scratch the surface of the real issue. The issue is not about making people laugh - no one objects to that.

A response without insults or put-downs is always welcome...

So, the war has ended, and no more soldiers are going to die?

"Laughter is the best medicine"? Well, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Put that in your proverbial pipe and smoke it!

Ok this thread makes me laugh. So i will add another quote. Just because of the rediculousness of it.

Laughter gives us distance. It allows us to step back from an event, deal with it and then move on. ~Bob Newhart

I 100% agree that a prevention is better then a medicine. But at the same time it had nothing to do with the thread really. I mean it does, but you just kinda attacked over something that wasn't even brough up..like i disagreed that preventions was bad or something. that is why i think its riduculous. But im a big fan of quotes so lets start throwing some in.

This situation: ironic yes, but negative....certainly not.

ok we are at war. You tell me how we ,right now, can prevent going to war with iraq in 2003.
you can prevent something like "death from cancer" but not joe schmo already dead from cancer.
you can prevent soldiers dieing in the future, but you can prevent the ones already dead in iraq.
with that said, given the cercumstances there is nothing negative about this situation. and talking preventative really has nothing to do with it.
like i said:ironic yes, negative no.

argue:To attempt to prove by reasoning; maintain or contend. You were deffinitly argueing.
