I saw in the newspaper today that Guv'ner GoodHair (Perry) here in Texas comes out saying they should teach Intelligent Design in public schools. Oddly enough, he is just starting his re-election campaign. "I ain't saying he's a panderer, but...."

The basic theory is that things are so complex that it must be guided by some outside intelligence.
That is what I believe myself. I believe in the evolution but I feel God put the ball into motion. If you don't believe that could have done it that way at all,

I don't believe at all that it should be taught in public schools. Just like my belief in Concurrent Reincarnation shouldn't be taught in school.

I think ID is a breach in Church and State. How would the Church feel is it was legislated that evolution had to be taught in Sunday School? After all it is another valid theory that deserves (insert all Creationist, IDist, or whateverist arguments here).

Any of you guys see Inherit the Wind? The more things change, the more they stay the same.

The Jesuit priest that baptized me when I was a baby writes for the Vatican, and he just wrote a big essay about how rediculous it is for schools to think that they should be teaching Creationism in a science class. If anything, it should be taught in a religion class.
Just thought it was interesting to read. If anyone is interested in reading it just PM me.

In a public high school we studied the Book of Job in a Literature class.
I think the only place ID or Creationism would work is a Comparative Religion class.

Wait didn't a court case in PA determine the validity of this theory as well as publicly showcase the absurdity of IDists cause?

yeah and public education is a breach of the purpose of government mandated by the original consitution. Its funny how many things could be mandated based on "persuit of happyness"

I fear a state that educates the developing mind period. The issue might not be that kids are being dictated certain info on faith or religeon...its that they are open to it period.

if everyone attended private school WHERE possible......then it wouldnt be an issue to begin with.

The fact is government is free to teach the children of America anything...including how great big government is and how the only solution to any personal issue can only be found in government.

hell maybe the US government initiated the big bang...I was tought that in kindergaten. 8)

when we turned our childrens future knowledge over to the government we didnt just lay them to risk of indoctrination into religeon.

I can point out piles of misleading info in American text books..like 2nd ammendments missing...teaching us that Democracy without mentioning of a Democratic REPUBLIC is what our forefather's thought up...public educations been an indoctrination center for years...so what you fear COULD happen with church and state has already happened with my fear..but with state and state..loler'z.

I think the state should be able to teach religeous theory perhaps at a high school level...but it simply cant endorse any creation theory. and it def shouldnt be some required class.

How do you guys feel about science being required classes.

I know evolutions proven ..I understand that...but one could say that no one theory on creation has been proven period. So if someones sending their child to government education..they themselves dont believe in the big bang..but might believe in the fact that evolutions exists...but are being forced to pay taxes which teach their kids something against their core belief...

I think the issues such a mess...but again the only reason its any kind of a mess is because we have become dependant on government to tell us what we know about the very basics of everything we know....hell the very basics of things we arent even close to knowing.

are universes cyclical...do they co exist?

are big bangs going on in overlapping yet to be born universes?

does time truely exist if multiple universes exist?

maybe we shouldnt be touching the issue period...or treat it all as theory and let people let their kids find their own way..which by the way they do anyway.

weve had public education teaching evolution and the big bang theory for sometime...and I know people who believe both, one or the other, or none of the above.

This creation issue in education wasnt a big deal when this nation formed...not because people didnt care about the seperation of church and state...its that public socialized government education simply DID NOT EXIST.

Do you understand how that the ruling of a district court affects a member of the state executive in a different state?

-PHiZ

Here is how I understand it. The was a case brought in a federal district court in Kansas.

It can be cited in other courts but it is not binding. The way this process works, is that if another court at the same level (federal, district) rules opposite, I think MAYBE it goes to federal apellate court. But I could be wrong there.

Ultimately the US Supreme Court would settle which "side"s opinions should be binding precedental case law.

Note, I am not a lawyer (IANAL)

At Jfos

Nothing is proven and nothing is fact , everything is based on point of view and interpersonal conflicts and assumptions so why is science even a existant thing? or math?

yes Jfos, public education which has raised millions out of poverty and ignorance, and has not enabled our national security but truly invented it is another Big Government evil.
