| Just to throw this out there: Why did female snowboarders increase in numbers so quickly while other "cool" sports have been slow on the uptake (bmx, skate and inline, etc)? http://www.scuffoff.net | http://www.sequencefab.com Play The Domain Name Stock Market! | |

| Hey Cory,
BMX is so underground for the majority of the female population. I didn't even know flatland existed until I met a flatlander, at school. And I'm pretty observant. I went to metro before I even had a bike and became a spectator, for the first time ever. Well, that was never gonna work... Girls are more likely to participate in sports like snowboarding because of the coverage, and they know it EXIST. Statistically the fastest growing sport among girls in Canada is ice hockey. ICE HOCKEY! it's been around for more than 100 YEARS!! And it's just becoming popular now? but there has been a surge in female skateboarding. Again, they know it exist because of the commercialism. And a lot of these girls would pick up a BMX over a skateboard if the idea crossed thier mind. I tried skateboarding when I was 15, but something about it made me hate it. If BMX was more prominent in the media, there would be a lot more girl riders. There's a speical allure in BMX, from a feminine perspective, especially flatland. And Rebecca, if you ever wanted a female support team come ride with Danielle, Emily, Lauren, and myself in our winter spot. We'd love if you came to ride with us. Christmas Snake for Lyfe. | |
